I think theres a huge difference between “crashed” gear and completely FUBAR gear. If it looks like a damn slushy or a bottle of pop-rocks then there was something seriously freakin wrong with it. Until recently, I didnt ever see stuff look like that. In the past if it was “crashed” you might see something that looks more like cracking ice in a very thin layer, usually on the bottom or the oil is just slightly cloudy where the compound came out of solution. I wouldn’t ever try to bring something like a slushy back. And more importantly, if you are going to use crashed gear (like I mentioned) and reheat it, then do it but let the bottle(s) sit for a couple of weeks to be sure it won’t crash again. If it does, pitch it.
