Took the three new kids out to teach them our way of fishing today. They are use to bamboo poles.

My step daughter on her first cast threw the whole rod into 20 feet of water lmao @John I just heard a splash turned and looked at her and she had a blank look on her face and was completely empty handed I almost fell off the boat I was laughing so hard. I looked by where I heard the splash and saw her bobber. I though problem solved. Well the bale was open so we had to pull in all the line until it hit the knot then we were able to retrieve the pole. I was able to
Splice two thirtyish feet of line together so
She could resume fishing. We had a blast. I did the rest of the casting for her. Will take her to a vacant lot somewhere and teach her to cast there lol. Thankful for a great day with the kiddos.

Lol, I can relate to that! I took my three kids down to Grand Isle to go surf fishing and my oldest I taught him how to use a bait casting reel and I let him throw my dad‘s Ambassador 5000 classic. I heard him say dad, in that disappointed voice that I’ve heard numerous times. I looked back and asked him what was going on and he said that he threw the reel in the rod off the side of the pier and it went down in the water!

To his surprise I just laughed and told him that it happens to everyone. But inside I was dying I cannot believe I lost that reel.

But that will be a story that he can tell his kids.

That pond or leg that you’re fishing and they must be stocked with fish because that looks like a hybrid breed perch
