Massages or no massages?

My husband works out alot. Sometimes he will say this muscle is sore or that one is sore. I offer to massage but he always says no. I can only assume that a massage every now and then would feel good and most likely be beneficial. Inputs???

If a massage is done by someone who is trained in it and knows what their doing they are very beneficial. But someone who doesn’t know what they’re doing could have the opposite effect. Especially if you’re trying to do deep tissue in the wrong places.

I use deep tissue massage regularly. I have good insurance. Massage therapy has many benefits and loosens muscle fibers to assist in new growth and it feels oh so good.

Drink plenty of water pre and post as your body will be flushing toxins after therapy.

Hell if my girl was offering massages I wouldn’t turn down lol. You don’t need a professional at all times. Sometimes it’s just nice to have.

Foam rolling is an excellent recommendation @Andrew0409. I have gotten into the habit of rolling my muscle groups “pre workout” that I will be training that day. I find that this loosens tightness and increases blood flow. I started on the recommendation of a physical trainer to mitigate injury risk.

I feel that the lactic acid build up in your muscles need to be released naturally, and massaging a muscle that has enough built up in it may cause extra or unwanted stress on your liver (which I try to reduce because i’ve done enough damage to it). So a message is nice but to message sore muscles from workouts not so sure about.

I thought massages would be beneficial. Maybe now he will let me do it!!

He drinks plenty of water.

When i start that will be an issue for me cause i hate water…lol

Foam rol post not pre you don’t want to exhaust the muscle before training. You will lose strength. Same with stretching do it after.

Massage can be very beneficial even if not deep tissue. So I say yes

What about what josh said

You should work with a very good massage therapist. A lot of tendinitis is actually rooted in highly muscles surrounding the tendon.

I had petellar tendinitis in the knee, got my quad lossened after a few session and I’m all good.

Same with elbow, tight forearm or bicep, triceps heads can cause them not to take the load they are suppose to. Forcing your tendons and other muscles to to compensate and take more load then they are made for. Also helps hand pain and numbness and weakness. Something can be pushing on your nerves being to tight.

Chronic tendinitis is also always cause by the muscles surrounding your tendon not functioning 100%
