I just snagged a 7.3L excursion today. Been looking for a one for awhile waiting on the right one to come along.

The 7.3 is a long lasting engine but slow as Christmas. Anyone know anything about the current performance chips out there?

I would look into a 6 position switch, like BANKS 6 gun, there are a few others similar to that as well. I had a 2001 Cummins (nothing done to it) a 2008 power stroke with all DPF and emissions removed including EGR and a Spartan tuner running the 300+ HP race tune, and a 2011 6.7 power stroke with all emissions (DPF, SCR, EGR) removed and an H&S Mini Max set always on HOT (150+ Hp). You’re lucky if you found a 7.3 Excursion in good shape, I’d even take a 6.0 but you’ve gotta put about 5G’s into them right off the bat to bullet proof them.

That’s good news. You have forged rods vs powder coated. I believe they call the engines you have the gem of power strokes. It’s strange that it’s slow I would start with the intake and the exhaust. Diesels live on air they need to breath. Once you’ve opened those up any mods you make will maximize your engines ability to produce torque. And what @JB_rD81 said. But before you do that do what I said. Your gonna love it.

The intake is a banks intake as well as a banks exhaust. There’s an older banks in it, it just throws error codes all the time bc it’s older. And I don’t like that.

@JB_rD81 man it’s got 200,000 miles on and the engine looks like it was babied. New injectors, power steering pump, and transmission less than 10k miles ago. So I pulled the damn trigger on it.

Had 03 7.3 f250 years ago and loved it.

I hear 50/50 good bad about the bully dog. The only thing I like is it’s gauges are included. Instead of having to add them all myself. Any thoughts on the bully dog system? I had one on my03 and had a good experience but now I just keep reading horror stories.

I’ll have to check the air filter again it was getting dark when I saw it last night.

My previous 7.3 was like a lumbering giant as well.

For real dude. Ex wife had horses. That 350 would haul ass with or without a load. Same with the excursion (big gas engine).
