Getting injured while training, during cycle or off cycle, has crushed me a few times over the last decade. But especially if it’s happened during a cycle. Going from feeling amazing, then then an injury, for me it’s instant depression. I’ve been lucky recently, but feel like I had to learn some things the hard way.

From me, I ruptured a disc doing something I did a hundred times bf & with light warmup weight. Then found out from my doc who you can tell crushes it in the gym & knowledgeable about working out smart, that bent over rows are one of the #1 causes for herniated & ruptured discs.

Maybe we all could share some things we learned the hard way. I know there are lifts we learned back in the day that are taking a hard toll on our bodies today.
 
I’m 47 I don’t do bench any more. I do dB press with a neutral grip. Rep range is usually higher lighter weight but when you feel good you want to go heavy. I didn’t do over head press for 10 years. Just now doing them cautiously. Yup injury sucks. I just try to live to lift another day. And realize I’m not 20 anymore.
 
Yeah, while my doc was telling me about injuries to the back he also mentioned to stay away from overhead press as that is another leading cause for minor & major shoulder tears and rotator cuff injuries
 
I get that. Don’t think that has ever been a problem with me personally, as I’m 5’8 and everyone is already bigger than me.
 
But I guess that is not totally true because a lot of my injuries came from my marine corps days when I was trying to keep up with the bigger guys.
 
I’m really struggling with dieting. My wife doesn’t want to eat tilapia and chicken every night and I don’t want to sweat her on it too much so I’ve focused on just getting enough protein and intermittent fasting during the day to offset my wife’s amazing cooking. I eat like a horse on workout days though. Kinda jealous of you cut up guys. I used to be really cut and I felt amazing.
 
Sometimes you just have to eat separate meals. I was shaving to cook. One thing for lady them eat my chicken and veggies
