New Log, Strongman Competition Training

Well, decided to train for a local strongman competition here in July, so revamping my workout/food.
Cycle is as follows:. 600 NPP @ 200 M/W/F with Test E every 3rd day at 250
Not sure on exactly what my calorie intake should be for this, any thoughts, ideas?
Also never trained like this before but so far it’s as follows:
Log Press 5x5 M & Thur
Stones 5x5 Tues & Friday with Friday only bringing it up to lap then back down
Saturday is tire flips and Wednesday will be Farmer Walks
Any ideas on filling in my aux lifts? Should I continue to bench/squat?

Any advice would be appreciated guys and potential gals!

Routine ideas PICK SHIT UP OFF THE FLOOR. Diet I would say figure out if there’s a weight class, it should be pretty broad and far as category’s go. Eat like a mule, do your big compound lifts. Your training session’s are or should be a helluva lot longer compared to bbing due to the rest between sets. Study up on the central nervous system. That’s where the power comes from. Warm up joints take your time when training. And remember mass moves mass. Just my 2c

No weight classes, so I’m just going to eat like a horse and load up on some clean protein and eat all day I guess.
I figured my workouts will probably be about 2 hours, curious about rest/recoup if i should keep doing the compound lifts or stick to the strongman items I listed? Don’t want to overtrain either I guess, sure it will be a lot of trial and error, but I’m sure my recovery time is going to be a lot faster on a cycle than not.

Yeah muscle recovery will be much faster. But that cns fatigue is no shit. After you’ve trained an feel like shit after a few days take a flash light and get someone to hold it in your eye. If your pupil contracted then starts pulsing it’s time to rest a few days. That’s how I can tell I’m fried. And I’d say stick to what lifts your going to compete at but use high reps on other accessory lifts. And rest pause between lifts should be as long as you need to recharge that battery, being your cns again

Thanks, I’ll have the wife do that, I noticed I had a deep soreness after those stones this week I haven’t had in years, felt like it went to the bone.

Connective tissue likely, I’m excited for you man it will be fun. Farmer carry is your friend it recruits so much energy. Just cant stress enough it’s your cns your building. Hold good form do all exercises you can while standing so you build a strong trunk. Go to failure in max 5 reps

I know when I was lifting heavy for big lifts. I ate everything. Calories and more calories. Power lifting u aren’t gonna look like a body builder. But doing all those heavy lifts you need a lot of good food to recover and repair.

I figured it may help in the long run toward my bodybuilding goals, get some good work on connective tissue and strengthen the tendons. Really up my strength, which will allow me to lift heavier when I’m done and go back to a more traditional bodybuilding routine.

Well did about 1 hour of log work, worked up to 195 for 3 reps, went for 205 and missed the clean up to the chest, 2nd try the clean went well just couldn’t lock it out, guess I’ll wait a couple weeks and try 205 again, did some high rep dumbbell bench presses and incline bench presses to finish out the day.

Yesterday 4/1 April fool’s was no joke, did farmers walk with cans for first time.
(2) 220 pound cans, I couldn’t walk them far, 4ft to start, did an hour’s worth with lots of rest, didn’t give in, each time got shorter and shorter, they are no joke. Was disappointed in myself as I thought I could do better, but this is a whole new arena for me.
I’ll keep plugging along, did some high rep work on biceps/triceps/abs after.

Those cans pissed me off, I’m really going to hit them hard, I hate failing.
This really is a whole new animal training wise, no way conventional lifting truly prepares you for that work load.

Yep keep pushing it then ya get that mental fogginess, appetite loss and light sensitivity, oh yeah and irritability…sleep bro. 💤 looked up elliot hulse on YouTube, he’s a strong man competitor in fla got some good content

I’ll definitely look him up, I got some good sleep last night, going to take the weekend off and do shit around the house to recharge I think.
I definitely had irritability the last few days, I wasn’t sure if it was my cycle or being wore out!
Going to eat, force myself to eat this weekend, went to a local farm picked up T-Bones that are going on the grill tonight!
