So I wasn’t gonna mention this cause I’m already dwelling on it,plus I don’t want people here to feel like they have to acknowledge it just to be nice, but this date in 2005 I was over seas and we lost a man due to VBIED(vehicle born improvised explosive device) I wasn’t in the actual patrol but I was on post and seen it all,and that squad was sooooo close to ending their patrol,a hundred yards more and they woulda been safe.It is absolutely amazing that a whole car blew up and while everyone in the patrol had some kind of injury, only one died.Pieces of the car were 150-200 yards away.16 years ago and it’s still fresh in my mind.Anyfuckinways, take a moment or two acknowledge utterly selfless sacrifices people make.Norman Wally Andersens (he was the point man) quick reaction in putting multiple rounds in the engine block undoubtedly saved a number of lives by staying right in the middle of the street firing until the car was on top of him and exploded.
