Old or new

so alot of us been in the gym for ever…

do u think tbe old classic machines …and work outs for body building is better versus the new machines designed to isolate and build muscles better.

or a combination? and whats the ratio of old and new…that you use?

do u think u can build solidly and significantly with just using machines or are free wieghts essential?

You said bbuilding, so no doubt free weights, specially basic excercises will be escential . But a combination of basic axercises with free and isolation machines is just perfect

so there is no way to successfully body build just using machines then u are saying…or just not a respectable approach and looked at as lazy and against the tradition and image of bodybuilding?

Well i would say is the effectiveness of exercises that build mass cause they involve a large amount of muscles in every movement, so a combination works perfectly, but yes for bbuilding the basic free weight exercises gotta be there. now if machines is all there is available to you, you can still have a great work out

no just curious .i completely agree woth u 100% just trying to see if thinking have changed…and if machines have come a long way to where they are able to replicate the feel and results of free weights but causes less potential for injury and or impropper form and more isolation…gyms all over seem to be privied to certain types of machines other gyms may never see…so thinking that people may mention a machine for instance and brand thats at their gym that is amazing…bur may not be in any of mine nor in my region

I train in an old boxing gym which has lots of free weighs also old, very old Nautilus machines. I have awesome, awesome work outs every day. There are a lots of things i dont have like crossover cables…but i can do decline flys…there is always an alternative

I believe free weights are are a great way to build a foundation or ‘base’ as they help to build accessory muscles, strengthen tendons and ligaments and with a proper diet and strength routine are king. Once that foundation of muscle is made I think machines are a good way to fine tune and isolate possible lagging muscles.

free weights for years were considered to be the absolute basis of any sports, free weights activate such muscle parts about which we did not even have an idea lol

I always see you say that you train in an old boxing gym, I also saw the pics you posted a little while back of this gym. I would love to have the chance to come train with you in this gym of yours…even if for just one day. Not just to train but to have the opportunity to pick your brilliant brain for the day as well.

I find it to that sometimes when the wife and I go on vaca and there is no gym around(occasionally I will take a set of dumbbells) that even just body weight exercises at high intensities and high reps gives me a great pump as well.
