I just had a big wake up call and reminder that I’m truly blessed being able to retire from a career with great med insurance.

My doc has had me on jardience for my type 2 diabetes and i never thought much on the price…$65 for 90 day supply taken 1 @ day. My wife picked them up for me yesterday and was chatting with the pharmacist lady…without insurance that is $1600 worth of medicine. Wow…living fat dumb and happy, I had no idea. I’m sure @NeuroRN is fully aware of the prices for pharma scripts.

@Bigmurph i will edit if brand names aren’t allowed. Apologies in advance.

No this is allowed I pay out of pocket for everything because the insurance deductibles are crazy after 2yrs of having insurance I did the math and its better for me to just pay out of pocket.

Then your exact medication jaundiance as an example 1600 in the states do you know the cost if you were to order the same exact jaurdiance from India its the same exact thing because all they do is produce it there and stamp the pills here that allows them to claim made in America which they are definitely not

If its 1600 in America I can get it for probably 16$ if I was in India and 160$ if I ordered it from India. Its the same exact thing they talk about its counterfeit which we know that there’s plenty of that but if you were to order from a distributor which has all the paperwork which is legal except you can’t mail it legally.
This is how the pharma company stops us from getting medication at the actual cost not 100x the cost.

Same here . I pay less out of pocket then I would with my insurance . It’s ridiculous how much of a difference it is . So many people unable to get there meds right now bc of this is really messed up!

Big pharma has a nut grip on everything. I’ve read it but don’t remember the insane amount of money they make in this country.

I’m all about making money but meds aren’t like an overpriced new truck that you might not really need…it’s stuff we all need to live a somewhat healthy life.

I have to use generic medication from 60 yrs ago because I can’t afford the new next generation medications that they’ve created. Time released stuff instant release stuff both I could really use and even the discounts that the company helps people like me pay only last for 90 days or 3 months of medication so its just advertising

I’ve heard there’s a big black market for meds from the north and south of us. Not sure how that works.

Canada is cheap for insulin , diabetics drive to canada buy a large amount of insulin then return to the USA, which is legal. However to order it from canada is more grey area. I dont know about mexico as i am from the north.

Not much else i know of i believe you can buy ephedrine in canada, but cant legally bring across border. Have to research other things. @Poppy

Trump wanted to negotiate a deal with big pharma to get the same prices like they do in Europe. Every one said he was an asshole because it was distracting the pharmaceutical company from making vaccines.

That’s the biggest issue with this country and it’s both sides just won’t work worth the other if they agree something is gret ode

A friend of mine cant afford insulin he is broke right now and usually goes to canada to buy enough for like 3-4months. Hes diabetic and just wants the USA to price insulin the same as canada. It bothers me that politicians are so useless, as they provide nothing to society. Thats my rant lol. He can go to walmart and get humulin r but he says that is shit
