Sh*t Show Labs Today

Had my quarterly fasted blood draw this morning.

Got up a couple of hours early… drank 2 liters of water… dropped baby girl off at school and went to hospital lab. It was in the low 20’s and I was cold/chilled. A bit unusual for me.

My veins were buried and kept rolling. She tried the back of my hand and got a vein but the blood would not flow. She got another girl that had to syringe the blood out from the tube port. They got some and quit.

This was by far the hardest it’s ever been to get blood and I do it 4 x a year scheduled plus 1 or 2 more for cause.

Question for anyone… would taking a cialis prior to this have helped?

Being warm causes vasodilation making veins easier to hit. So a heating pad wrapped around arm, going to sauna can help. If it is really cold hitting a vein can be hard. Can always get ultrasound guidance if having hard time hitting vein

I’m getting to be a frail little old man walking around cold. Hahaha

I’ve put warm blankets on folks to get them to pop. I wouldn’t worry about it too much.
Well I was extremely “bad” over the holidays starting with halloween so I’m sure the failure will stretch on through the results. I feel pretty good overall so I will drill down starting today after my usual post fasted labs pig out yesterday.

I think Ive got “white coat” syndrome when it comes to anything veins. I walk around with pretty good vascularity most of the time. They like to hide deep for labs.
