Thoughts on doing hypertrophy programs periodically

I think it’s a great idea. You should always program in hypertrophy into your training for several reasons,
1- increasing intensity with volume per set not overall weight and number of sets.
2- increased work capacity
3- accessory work is good for the joints
 
Well then it’s settled I will do a hypertrophy phase on legs to recharge mysef. Still do powerlifting on bench as that’s not hurting right now
