Blood Sugar Levels Crashed

What’s Up everyone, so I wanted to see if this has happened to anyone. I was training arms this morning doing a JM’s routine and my blood sugar just crashed. I felt a little dizzy and got very anxious almost to the point that I had to leave the gym. This has happened to me before so I recognized what was going on. I quickly drank my intraworkout shake which had about 20 grams of fast digesting carbs in it. Everything went back to normal within a few minutes and I finished training.

When I woke up in the morning, I took a couple of fat burners and did fasted cardio around 4am for 40 minutes, then I ate breakfast which consisted of 100grams of oats and a scoop of protein with a scoop of peanut butter. Took a nap and off the the gym. Before training I mixed a carb powder 25grams of carbs, a stim preworkout 200 grams of caffeine, and a nonstim pump preworkout.

So I went to my doctor afterwards.’they hooked me up to and EKG. She said she was a little concerned about the reading and recommended a stress test as a precaution. Scheduled for next week. She said it could be nothing. I never had any issues with my heart before. Better to be safe than sorry I guess. I’m not on a cycle right now, just my TRT dose. I’m also on thyroid meds for hypothyroidism. I’m thinking it’s all the stims.

I have depleted my glycogen stores on many occasions. In fact, to the point that I literally could no longer stand. Legs feel like rubber, head fills like it is spinning out of control and then no mas… tapped out. Days to recover. Not good Amigo. I hope it was just a blood sugar dip for you and not something more serious.
My advice is to follow your health care providers instructions and definitely reconsider the use of the caffeine and pre workout supp until you get the green light next week.

Hope EVERYTHING works out in your favor.

It’s pretty common for hypothyroidism to lead to hypoglycemia due to the various factors such as an impairment in the way glycogen is broken down to glucose and slow gastric emptying which leads to slower glucose absorption( don’t quote me on all of this, not my favorite part of med school). I hope everything goes well for you man. Keep us posted.

Thanks for the advice. I’m taking the weekend off from training. I’ve got two double shifts coming up. Going to try to limit my caffeine intake to just first thing in the morning. They advised me not to train unil I get the test done. Unfortunately that’s not going to happen. I’ll be training stim free until then. I never thought about the glycogen issue though. Good point.

I can tell you from a guy who struggles with anxiety already, when I started using gear with a pre workout the stuff gave me an anxiety attack almost every time. So I cut that out haven’t had a problem. My buddy told me it was over stimulating and that he couldn’t use them either. Just my 2¢ hope everything turns out ok brotha

That makes 2 of us bro i got some of the worst anxiety inside me at all times everyday. Completely crippling at times and especially at night when im trying to fall asleep. During the day i can keep busy but night the mind is free to torment me. So i barely ever use stims as they just make shit so much worse. @siglo69 i hope everything works out for you bud best eishes with your situation :facepunch:t2:

Tren gets me like that I have panic attacks bad when on it. I use humalog pre workout so i drink a 30g protein shake about 45 minutes before I workout and I also make a 100g carb shake with carbion i drink half of it with my protein shake and sip the rest throughout my workout. You may want to split your intra workout shake up like I do part before and the rest during. Good luck bro!

Thanks for the advice. I would have been hurting if I didn’t have that carb drink with me. I’d sure like to know the cause of this. One of the posts above mentioned a glycogen depletion. That makes sense. Also maybe my thyroid meds have something to do with it .

I highly doubt you depleted your glycogen in a single workout. You would have had to burn through about 400g… 😉

I think it was a blood sugar dip or a reaction to your preworkout as others suggested. @Islandswole made a good point, and I learned something new, about glucose uptake and hypothyroidism.

Good thoughts your way!
