Had a great weekend knocking out a ton of little projects here and there as we were down to a family of 4 instead of 7 for the weekend. Then today hit, by noon I was already thinking is it Friday yet? Just issues with work submission reports (medical device field) that always have those last minute issues come up which now requires me to work again with the biostatistics team to rerun a bunch of outputs for me to redo much of the report. Should be ok but is a very high priority project that the president of the company is actively involved in and needs to be completely done by next week…
Then we are doing a pretty significant remodel in the basement and to be honest this is no longer just a kitchenette, it’s a full out ridiculous kitchen that was not intended to outshine our main one upstairs but the need to use a gas stove changed that due to needing one of those flat tops that has a paired telescoping exhaust hood that raises up when using the stove (just happens the stoves high burners turn out 17k BTUs, so will be searing some nice steaks at some point in addition to smoking meat outside of course. The biggest challenge is finding the best way to run the exhaust ventilation outside with a giant 900 CFM blower on the side of the house. Had the contractor over for at least a couple hours figuring it all out, but think we’ve got a plan. Behind the wall is a large electrical room where the ventilation can run. Just hoping all this comes together which I’m sure it will. Just got a taste of what these contractors and HVAC trades probably deal with daily…find a way to make it work. Happy I’ve got a good guy that I trust and it’s funny as he is probably 10 years older than me but reminds me of some of the knuckleheads I hung out with back in the day. So makes this feeling of figuring it out through various ideas that sometimes fail, but usually work out, a bit easier to deal with, but can’t wait for it to just get finished.
Just am exhausted from today so going to hit the gym hard first thing in the morning…and it’s only Tuesday! In retrospect I kind of feel like a douche as who am I to complain about things like this…I’m lucky to have a great job and family, as well as the ability to financially do this type of remodel. Just a reminder to never take anything for granted. Overall, I think most of us on here are on pretty solid footing, partially I think comes from the discipline we have to push ourselves to the limit in the gym and that translates to work ethic. I’ve seen a few posts lately about people dealing with lazy co-workers…just don’t have much patience for that mentality of entitlement.
Drinking a nice glass of my little treat of mio water . Though tempted to have a real drink but made the decision January 1st that alcohol is out of my stress relief options, even though I fortunately never hit anything near rock bottom…more related to my overall health and setting an example for my kids. 136 days alcohol free and not breaking that streak now!
Sorry rant over…hope all had a nice Monday!
