Colostrum is something I stumbled upon as I get raw goats milk from a friend that has goats. The raw goats milk is great for health and digestion.

Kefir is also a powerhouse for gut health especially if you can get it or make it double fermented.

Then there is colostrum. I don’t have time now to find and post data I will later. But it is the first milk from a pregnant cow. Packed full of antibodies and gwroth hormones. It has been proven to help bone fractures and immunity issues as well as gut health better than any other supplements. Problem is the best colostrum is that which has not been processed or pasteurized which kills the enzymes that helps your body digest it properly. Best way to get this RAW colostrum is to find a farm that is willing to sell it to you. Or some states allow the sale of raw milk and can get it from a health food store. Much better then the dried supplement colostrum.

I will post more later. Check it out @Bigmurph maybe this can help you.

This sounds like something that the FDA would ban lol

Growth Hormone?

I bookmarked it to remind me to check it out im really curious I didn’t look into it I thought that you were going to write more

What Is Colostrum?

Colostrum is a milky fluid that’s released by mammals that have recently given birth before breast milk production begins.

It’s an important source of nutrients that promotes growth and fights disease in infants, but it can also be consumed during other phases of life — typically in supplement form.

Even though all mammals produce colostrum, supplements are usually made from the colostrum of cows. This supplement is known as bovine colostrum.

Bovine colostrum is similar to human colostrum — rich in vitamins, minerals, fats, carbohydrates, disease-fighting proteins, growth hormones, and digestive enzymes (1).

Bovine colostrum supplements have become popular in recent years, as they may promote immunity, fight infection, and improve gut health (2, 3).

For these supplements colostrum from cows is pasteurized and dried into pills or into powders that can be mixed with liquids. Bovine colostrum typically has a light yellow color and a subtle taste and smell that resembles buttermilk.
SUMMARY

Colostrum is a milk-like fluid released from the breasts of mammals after they have given birth. It’s high in nutrients that promote infant growth but may also provide other benefits. Supplements are typically made from bovine colostrum.
Highly Nutritious

Bovine colostrum is extremely nutritious and contains more nutrients than regular milk.

In particular, it’s higher in protein, fat, carbs, magnesium, B vitamins, and vitamins A, C, and E than cow’s milk (1).

While colostrum is rich in macronutrients, vitamins, and minerals, its claimed health benefits are mostly linked to specific protein compounds, which include:
  • Lactoferrin. Lactoferrin is a protein involved in your body’s immune response to infections, including those caused by bacteria and viruses (4Trusted Source, 5Trusted Source, 6Trusted Source).
  • Growth factors. Growth factors are hormones that stimulate growth. Bovine colostrum is especially high in two protein-based hormones, insulin-like growth factors 1 and 2, or IGF-1 and IGF-2 (1).
  • Antibodies. Antibodies are proteins, also known as immunoglobulins, used by your immune system to fight bacteria and viruses. Bovine colostrum is rich in the antibodies IgA, IgG, and IgM (1, 2).
Since bovine colostrum is loaded with nutrients that fight disease and promote growth, it may be able to boost immunity, treat infections, and offer more related benefits in humans throughout life.

Bovine colostrum may strengthen your immune system and help your body fight disease-causing agents.

The immune-boosting effects of colostrum are mostly due to its high concentration of the antibodies IgA and IgG. Antibodies are proteins that fight viruses and bacteria (1, 7Trusted Source).

Research shows that colostrum supplements may be particularly effective in boosting immunity in elite athletes.

One 12-week study in 35 adult distance runnersfound that taking a daily bovine colostrum supplement increased the amount of saliva IgA antibodies by 79%, compared to baseline levels (8Trusted Source).

The researchers suggested that higher saliva levels of IgA may strengthen immunity and enhance the body’s ability to fight upper respiratory tract infections (8Trusted Source).

Another study in 29 male cyclists observed that taking 10 grams of bovine colostrum a day for 5 weeks prevented a postexercise decrease in immune cells and reduced the risk of upper respiratory infection symptoms compared to a placebo (9Trusted Source).

Other studies have similarly linked bovine colostrum supplements with enhanced immune response, but more extensive research is needed (10Trusted Source).

May Prevent and Treat Diarrhea

The compounds in bovine colostrum — especially the variety of antibodies and the proteinlactoferrin — may help prevent diarrhea associated with bacterial and viral infections (11Trusted Source, 12Trusted Source).

A study in 87 adults experiencing diarrhea associated with HIV found that taking 100 grams of bovine colostrum a day along with traditional anti-diarrheal medications significantly decreased stool frequency by 21% more than traditional medications alone (13Trusted Source).

What’s more, cows can be given immunizations against specific strains of bacteria to produce colostrum high in antibodies that can fight specific infections (14Trusted Source).

These types of bovine colostrum are considered hyperimmune and could be an effective way to treat certain infections in humans, such as those caused by Escherichia coli (E. coli) and Shigella dysenteriae bacteria (14Trusted Source, 15Trusted Source, 16Trusted Source).

For example, studies show that hyperimmune colostrum may prevent a type of diarrhea known as traveler’s diarrhea, which is typically caused by E. coli bacteria.

One study in 30 healthy adults found that those who took a daily dose of 1,200 mg of hyperimmune bovine colostrum containing antibodies that fight E. coli bacteria were 90% less likely to develop traveler’s diarrhea than those taking a placebo (17Trusted Source).

May Benefit Gut Health

Bovine colostrum may strengthen your gut and fight infections in the digestive tract.

Both animal and human studies show that bovine colostrum may stimulate the growth of intestinal cells, strengthen the gut wall, and prevent intestinal permeability, a condition that causes particles from your gut to leak to the rest of your body (18Trusted Source, 19Trusted Source, 20Trusted Source).

These beneficial effects are likely due to the lactoferrin and growth factors it contains (21Trusted Source, 22Trusted Source).

One study in 12 athletes who were susceptible to intestinal permeability due to heavy exercise found that taking 20 grams of bovine colostrum a day prevented 80% of the increase in intestinal permeability experienced by those who took a placebo (19Trusted Source).

Another study observed that colostrum enemas may be helpful in treating colitis, a condition characterized by inflammation of the inner lining of the colon.

A study in 14 adults with colitis who were taking traditional medications found that taking bovine colostrum enemas in addition to regular medications reduced symptoms more than medication alone (23Trusted Source).

The potential for bovine colostrum to reduce symptoms of colitis is supported by animal studies. However, more extensive research in humans is needed (24Trusted Source, 25Trusted Source).
SUMMARY

Both human and animal studies suggest that bovine colostrum may enhance immunity, fight infections, and benefit gut health. However, more research is needed to better understand the effects of this supplement on human health.

Colostrum is a complex mixture of bioactives that promotes neonate growth. Studies show that it contains components capable of promoting bone formation and inhibiting bone resorption. Although many colostrum- based nutritional supplements have been developed as growth promotants, few studies have investigated their functional effects. A bovine colostrum 1–30kDa frac- tion, Growth Protein-Colostrum (GP-C), was adminis- tered to juvenile rats as a dietary supplement to determine effects on growth and development. GP-C enhanced the growth and mineralization of the femur as evidenced by increased serum osteocalcin and bone mineral density. Increased levels of serum growth hormone and insulin-like growth factor-1 suggest that the mechanism of enhanced growth is partially con- trolled by endocrine factors. GP-C was also found to increase osteoblast proliferation in vitro, a finding that indicates a possible mechanism of action of GP-C, but further studies are required. Based on our findings, we hypothesize that a colostrum-based dietary supplement enhances bone growth and development in humans.

So the last three post were copied and pasted from two different sources.

Dr.Berg also suggests that athletes with prolonged exposure to steroids can become densensitized to the affects of steroids and colostrum can reverse that. Dr. Berg however does have his own line of supplements including colostrum. I have not found this data elsewhere. The last three posts were not from Dr. Berg.

Here ya go brother @Bigmurph

I had to edit out the hyperlinks that didn’t go to pubmed there were more than a few.

Everyone remember this is the issue with copy and paste @Rusty don’t stress brother I got you.

So

Dr Berg is exactly right once our receptors become saturated we lose potency. This is also one of the reasons for side effects and aromatase to take place more with more testosterone unless freed by another compound such as proviron. Also with other AAS just different side effects.

So this is really interesting because all I ever hear about milk is don’t use dairy products on cycle meaning milk.
I guess it really does change during the pasteurization process because this is alot of pubmed studies for me to read thank you I left all those links intact look forward to reading them
I will be back with more later alot to take in lol
Excellent post brother thanks just watch those sneaky links lol

I don’t even know what a hyper link is. Lmao. This is why @Dirtnasty calls me bubble boy.

It’s funny how milk is bad for inflammation but colostrum which is first milk has so much anti inflammatory property.

The hyperlinks are the blue words if you look at the edit you will see pubmed dot com everywhere
I erased the rest.

It really amazes me that pasteurization kills everything good. I wish I could get all that hgh and hormones but there probably to strong for a human to use all the time.
That’s the only reason I can imagine why everyone isn’t all over this stuff

Well it’s just the colostrum. Only produced by cow for about five weeks around the birth time. And it’s expensive unless you can find a farmer to get it from. Otherwise try the supplements.

It is interesting that it’s just for the baby cows don’t they just inj them year round with like hcg for cows to keep them producing milk?

Don’t know if they inject them. I know if you keep milking cows they keep producing. Usually they are milked two times a day. Some corporate farms milk three times a day. I am going to get some. There is a place about an hour away to get it and it’s $15 per quart.
