Guys,

Every time I go in my gym, I see the crossfit boys and girls killing it in the crossfit area. Their passion and work ethic gets me fired up.

Anyone have experience with crossfit? I’m feeling the itch.

Well, I actually own a CF gym. I started out in weightlifting for sport as a kid, progressed to competitive bodybuilding and power lifting through my 20’s into my 30’s. I was a competitive MMA fighter and I loved all of it. CF to me was the best of them all. We
Lift heavy weight, learn some basic gymnastics and the intensity is like fighting but nobody hits you. Lol
As for injuries all gyms and coaches are different and yes there are injuries but that true in all sports. Look at the programming and see what it looks like. You obviously know how to train so make sure it makes sense to you. Proper warmup , 1-2 heavy movements, accessory work then conditioning . I’d be happy to answer any more specific questions.
Give it a try and form your own opinion. Don’t listen to people who have never tried it and say it sucks

I thought about opening a CF gym just as seemed more profitable then conventional gyms. Personally tho Ive only seen people doing ridiculous movements for online posting that made zero sense or such bad form if they used any real weight would be injured quickly.

Sure theres some good people that train properly in CF but plenty of bad ones also. I remember when it first started the amount of people injured trying to impress people.

IMO as far as functional strength strongman training is where its at.

i have a friend that started CF when it first started. He’s in his early 50s now. Knees. Shoulders. Hips. Elbows. All have serious issues. In 20 years let’s see how many are still going. Just see the crazy stuff they do and go why the fuck would you do that? And just throwing weights/body weight around? WTF are those butterfly pull-ups suppose to do? Destroy your shoulders and joints? Sorry just see a lot of issues in their futures… but highly motivated!! Used to tell young Marines that we’re hung-ho but just fucked things up. great initiative. Poor judgement. How I see CF. 😂

Again making generalizations based upon what is seen on the internet. Do people get hurt? Of course. How many poster lifters and strongmen get hurt? Plenty. As a competitive bodybuilder and power lifter I’ve seen plenty of stupid shit happen in a gym in my 30 years of training. I can assure you with proper coaching CF is lots of fun and you’ll get great results in strength and power. And yes lots of strongman work. Stones, yolk, tires farmer carries etc. If your a bodybuilder needing you add mass not for you. I’m 46 and I’ll put my physique, strength , speed against anyone. As I said before give it a try then you can give an honest opinion. Stating that a friend hurt his joints. Maybe he trains like an asshole? I’m the almost 8 years I’ve done CF knock on wood we’ve only had 1 injury. Torn Achilles by one of our marathon runners.
Happy to share any info anyone needs

Go itch it @Ldog, but I don’t think they even let old men do it, people don’t want cardiac arrest at their gyms, bad for business I’m sure.

I dont have 1 particular style of training but I go heavy for 2 weeks then higher reps sets for a week, then repeat depending on farm work load. But I do love farmer carry. I do 405 on that shit, builds all kinds of strength

Such a grumpy ole EDIT John. You broke my heart with that comment. Please just go back to your 1985 Chevy Silverado and crank up the 1980 Live concert with Conway and Loretta at the Grand Ole Oprey. Ole ldog is in solid shape and can hold his own…I’m in better shape than folks have my age…and my wife says I’m spicy so take that mister!

I appreciate all the feedback guys.

Generalization of assholes in CF? Most get in the way anyways with that silly shit. Maybe you generalize my friends as asshole cuz he is a CF guy and most are. Is that what you are saying? What ever. Go jump around.

Not dying that at all. Saying don’t knock it till you try it. And if by in the way you mean in the way by cleaning, snatching and squatting a shit ton of weight and can sprint like Usain Bolt than guilty as charged.
