Efficacy of ketogenic diet on body composition

Thank you @TG I appreciate it. I have read this. Unfortunately like most other abstracts that I have read the group is very small and they don’t suggest any of the trained individuals are using steroids. But the conclusion is consistent with others that are available.

I have proven on myself that an individual can increase lean body mass in a ketogenic state with the use of steroids. Just since June 1 I have increased my fat free mass index score from 27.68 to 28.08. Lean mass has gone from 191.58 to 194.37.

@Fitraver No. I have never had a bone density scan. I have consistently used a Seca scan to monitor my progress. Scans are done fasted and total body water range is consistently in the 51.5-52.7% range.

I figured as much. But now what Im wondering is what cycle did you achieve the lean increase. About where the “tipping point” is on average.

@TG Sorry brother I don’t understand the question. Could you write it in crayon for me? Are you referring to the steroid choice and quantity?

Yep. So during the time since june 1 what dosages/chemicals were you on to achieve the increase in lbm

Testosterone 750mg/wk and Primo 600mg/wk. Cycle end 8/31/2018. I am currently cycling @SymBiotecLab T3 to see how far I can reduce my BF% in a slight calorie deficit until cycle end at which time I will switch over to a strict TRT protocol. I am currently tapering off the testosterone back down to 180mg/wk which is my typical TRT dose.

I forget to mention that I can on some strenuous days take in up to 75g of carbs and remain in ketosis over a 24 hour period while utilizing metformin at 425mg. My typical carb intake is 35-50g and I supplement with exogenous ketone salts.

That’s what I intend to find out on myself over the next year or so. I would really like to be able to maintain my active ketogenic lifestyle with a TRT protocol knowing that I will be able to maintain or even slightly increase my muscle mass into the future. I have said this before but it is becoming more obvious that my days of blasting is coming to an end. I just have not fully admitted it to myself. 😂✌️

Im sure with all the knowledge of training, supplementation, and diet you will be able to keep your lean asthetic muscular build :ok_hand:t2:

Thank you for your support and encouragement @MBTJR1980 As of right now, in a slight calorie deficit, it appears that I can make it work but that is with a huge amount of gear for me. If I am calculating my energy expenditure correctly than it is working. The down side is that I just do not believe that +/-4lbs of LM gain is worth the amount of steroids that I am using… Risk/Reward ratio is skewed in favor of risk. 😉

2019 will bring a lot of changes for me and I will have to decide what role all of this will play moving forward.

My pleasure i give credit where its due and obviously you have your own body dialed in to the max. Not sure how much gear you consider “ a huge amount of gear “ but if you ween yourself down slowly im willing to bet you would be able to keep most of what you have. The nice thing about maintenance dose test (trt) is that it still keeps dreaded cortisol from running rampant and eating away all your hard earned gains. So with some diet manipulation you just might be gtg brother. I know if anyone can pull it off you can for sure 😎

I typically have always used any combination of steroids, minus orals, in the 1000mg/wk range. On a few occasions I have gone as high as 1250. Currently I am at 1350. I have never used testosterone higher than 750 on cycle and for the most part 500 or lower is a better choice for me.

I know for many this does not seem that high but it is for me. I have always responded well and have always encouraged the use of more responsible doses than what we typically see being used.
