Getting gains on vacay on the bday

My birthday was today so I decided to take a week off and head out to the beach. When I got to the hotel I realized the fitness center actually had some dumbbells of heavier weights so I was able to get a good workout, but it got me thinking, how do you guys keep getting gains while on vacation.
 
Was at the Marriott in downtown Chicago recent on a business trip … gym was every bit as big a nice as an anytime fitness. Nicer hotels now have cybex ans lifefitess equipment … especially in California. I do a lot of business in San Diego … great hotel gyms!
 
I cannot enjoy a vacation if I don’t get in workouts. I don’t feel accomplished if I take off normal routine. I’ll find an anytime fitness and pay their stupid $10 fee for a day or two here and there. I enjoy my days off work more after I work out.
 
I have to go to LA for some work later this month or early November. Are their gyms open? I am worried about that cause I’ll be there for two weeks.
 
That’s at least what I try to do. I had a trip where there were no gyms or workout centers anywhere so I had to rough it a bit and got basically the equivalent of a strongman workout. We were out in the mountains so it was the best I could do.
 
Once I start working out I just cant stop lol. Seems like a common trend with a lot of things in my life.
 
Everything needs a break so if I’m on vacation I’m either camping/hiking or at the beach. So generally no lifting. It’s the only time I stop.
