So I’m this time I have off from training I know my legs wil be a little weaker than two Int hs ago. Which leads me think it maybe a good time with trying low bar squats. Always been high bar on my traps. B it I’ve Heard low is better for higher weights. If anybody has some tips o could use for when I try it out let me hear them

I do only low-bar. You just rest the bar further back on your back, closer to your lats, rather than sitting on your traps. Typically have to spread out your arms a bit to do so. The advantage is mechanical: Because the weight is more centered over your body, you can exert more force on the bar.

Yeah bar sits more on rear delts yiu kind of bend forward more but it seems like the preferred method for pl. figure I will work it in on second squat day just to see how it goes

I actually wouldn’t be able to do that lift it makes sense to me now why I never have
I broke my arm along time ago I can barely squat with the bar high because my wrist doesn’t turn all the way flat so I wouldn’t be able to lower the bar.

Appreciate the knowledge brothers learn something new all the time

I think in general most people can do more with a low bar position but not always.

I tried it prepping for a meet one time and squatted the same as I did high bar. There’s also some elite lifters who use high bar (John Haack, Bryce Lewis etc).

Doesn’t hurt to try though!

Low bar all the way, keep your elbows tight and force them to stay directly under the bar… should feel like you’re wrapping the bar around yourself, the same basis as “bending the bar” when you bench. I could never get comfortable when I tried high bar squats, too difficult for me to feel like I was “sitting back” into the lift like you’re supposed to. You’ll love low bars @Dirtnasty

Generally high bar for oly lifts and low bar for power lifters. I actually am more mid back. If you want to see some real low bar watch west side guys squat. For high bar watch Dmitry Klokav
