I agree. I ended up adopting two (at different times) and they have been the some of the best dogs I have ever had. I love the breed. They get a bad rap from a-holes making them mean.
Our old neighbors had a pit/lab mix. They adopted her and she came from an abusive environment. They have a daughter the same age as my youngest daughter. She had many sleepovers there with that dog. One day she was visiting and when she left the dog attacked her unprovoked. My daughter had deep puncture wounds in her foot. The hospital had to make a police report. It was the second kid this dog attacked so the had to destroy the dog. Made us sick. If the dog was loved as a puppy instead of being abused this would have never happened!!! I also hate those fuckers that think it’s cool to have a mean dog!!!
I was attacked by a pit in high school. He was just a mean bastard. Don’t think it was his upbringing either, but I had a chow that was the same way. Attacked two people and finally had to be put down. I think there are mean fucking dogs out there, sometimes just naturally, and in many breeds. Unfortunately, when it’s a powerful breed, they are so much more dangerous. But I think that is the exception and not the rule.
Agreed on the chi-wow-wows. Wife had two when we got married. Filthy little sobs and bit neighbors on both sides. Just little ankle bites but that’s all I needed to find them another home.
Hurricane florence insurance money bought about 20% of it…out of pocket for everything else. Wife and I both prefer the same noncarpeted floor everywhere.
It’s basically everything proof to the point you salvage the stuff from floods and reuse it.
