My current cycle and thoughts

It’s still a slightly embedded addiction in me to run/jog, so I still mix it in. Of course my dumb ass always tries to do it a day or two after legs. 🤔

To hell with that. I don’t even do cardio on leg day!

Ha! I had leg day yesterday and our workout is almost exactly the same…With exception of weight. You’re a beast compared to my Hack Squat and Leg Press numbers.

That really the first time I’ve went that heavy in a long while. I have 3 different leg workouts I cycle through so I do not become stagnant. I usually hurt the 2nd after legs worse than the first. Some reason hack squats hurt my lower back but wore a belt yesterday and felt pretty good. I would not say I’m a beast I’m just a older man trying to keep up with the young bucks!

I could see how hack squats would put pressure on someone’s lower back at that angle. Wife says same thing and prefers traditional or smith machine squats, where I feel the the hack squat puts less pressure on my lower back, as well as less pain in the neck area. We both mix it up though and tolerate each other’s preferences in exercises. She’s actually a phenomenal workout partner in all aspects.

I’d all depends on the brand Smith machine. At my old gym the smith machine only worked on 1 axis so it went just up and down. It really puts odd pressure when trying to keep good form. My new gyms work on 2 axis so the only thing you don’t get is your stabilizers worked. Really nice when you workout at 4am and nothing but the elderly are in there.

I wish I could go early morning my gym doesn’t open until 5 and work is at 630. Was nice when worked nights and was at gym at 7 am and no one there.

Wife and I have been talking about going early morning for last few years, because we have a 24 hour gym. But, I get up at 4:00, so I can get to work by 6:00, and home by 3:30. It sucks going at the peak when everyone is there, but, it’s a fairly good sized gym, and even has an outside garage bay pit with old equipment to use when inside is packed, if you don’t mind sweating your balls off more than usual.

I’ve worked out in Iraq in shitty gyms. Like the heat! Not the young people playing on their damn phone instead of lifting.
