Opening day of gun deer

Well this is the first opening morning I am laying in my bed next to my nice warm wifey poo!! After the long day of traveling back home yesterday I am like fuck it I’m skipping opening day. Never done that before! Shows my age.
I
Have my oldest and youngest out there collecting meat. Texted my youngest 15. Asked if he shot anything yet. He responds I shot at one. I said wtf that mean. He said it was 300 yards away. I said how many times when mentoring you have I told you that’s way to far for a 3030. Possible yes. Probable most definitely not. Stupid kids. Have to go

First of all, you disgust me, skipping opening day, cause your old, no excuses, I don’t hear you skipping workin out cause your old,or missing work cause your old. And how much does he practice, iron sights or scope?
 
Hahaha. Ya. He just did it again. Shot at one about three hundred yards away. My older son called me and told me they are looking for blood all over and can’t find anything. I asked where was he aiming. He said spine (cause drop) I said at three hundred with a 3030 he should’ve been aiming about two feet over its back. Lol. Uugghhhh. Kids.
 
2nd season shotgun starts Dec 12th in Iowa, and @Rusty you can bet your ass I’ll be out that morning! I second what @John said “old” is no excuse! Haha. I’ll be up at my old mans farm in north eastern Iowa, way too close to Wisconsin for comfort!
 
Closer you get the better the cheese and beer gets also. I’m gonna get out tomorrow or
Monday. I have to get my wife and one of my daughters on a deer yet this year. Plus have the boys hunting. Although they are missing they should produce something. I have been spoiled with some of the best hunting land I’ve ever seen. Not big bucks but lots of deer. I’ve shot more deer than I can count. My biggest goals now are getting kids and wife on deer. Have a 70 acre spot surrounded by land that isn’t hunted and land wonder don’t allow hunting. Except one of them. But too small for everyone to hunt at once anyways. I still probably would’ve went and sat with him if I wasn’t so exhausted and we’d probably have two deer if I did. Lmao @JB_rD81

@Rusty just like the closer you get to Iowa, and the farther into Iowa you get, the white tails get better! Especially if you’re a trophy hunter. I’ve shot some big bucks, but nothing to write home about, they don’t taste as good as a big fat doe! My dad however has 3 southern iowa bucks hanging on his out building wall 170 and bigger… maybe when I’m retired I’ll have the time to chase down one of them Halloween rut bucks!
 
Ya that’s my mentality also. I will trophy hunt once kids are out and I have the time. Right now it’s chasin that meat. And yes Iowa is where the big bucks are.
 
I used to hunt in a county in Michigan that was like that. Always hated it cause well it’s a weekend more available time especially as a kid

Oh great so I find the perfect camo and @John is gonna think I am a turkey and shoot me. Fuck me!!! Damn it. What do you think about that @Bigmurph. Shitty luck eh!!! Yes I think we would have a great time. Until @John got pissy and started a fight with one of us lol.
