Portable ice bath bottom plate with potential wheels

I think this is the most appropriate place to ask this question. Recently purchased a fairly cheap ice bath that is inflatable. Right now have a spot in basement for it as it’s on waterproof vinyl plank floors in our downstairs kitchen. Have access to faucet and ice from a full size fridge to fill it up. In winter, I may move it to outside porch as it gets pretty cold Dec-Mar….would require less ice and could keep the water in for a bit longer.

Question:
I’m thinking of going to a big box hardware store to get a washing machine tray to put under it in case it leaks over overflows with water displacement. Also would be nice if I could find a square or circular dolly (needs to fit the plunge (about 30 inches in diameter) to roll it to faucet or other locations in basement. I went with a cheaper one to just try it out before any large investment.

Here is what I have. Any suggestions would be great! Especially if you have pics of your setup. Thanks!

Interesting. Never heard of such a thing. I don’t think my trust level is high enough to keep it indoors… in case of catastrophic failure.

So this is wont be easy to move. I would get a pond pump to drain it as needed. by some hoses. when not in use, drain it. The weight will vary as you move since the water pressure shifts causing more load against the side walls. You would have been better off going to a tractor supply and getting a large tub for water solid plastic made for that. Then you could have built a base that could hold it.

As @Poppy said the failure inside will ruin that flooring. Id suspect your home owners policy wouldnt cover this but you need to check with your agent to see. Many have excluded damages caused from aquariums and others non fixated to the home if failures unless a premium charge is paid.

Notice that photo says it for outdoors. They know that shit will cause a mess and people will complain if used indoors lol.

Didn’t notice that in description as it said in other parts it was usable indoor and outdoors. I may just rearrange my garage gym and put it there to be safe. Have a garage freezer where I can keep bags of ice and can use the hose outside if not freezing cold to fill it up. Thanks!

Actually have a decent size concrete slab just outside back access door to garage so may be a great spot as it’s near a faucet too. Also as it gets colder may not need as much ice.

I’ve typically heard of people going for 37 degrees for 3 min first thing in morning, but to start I’m thinking of somewhere in the mid 40s will be plenty cold to start with. Haven’t used it yet and am dreading it a bit, but the benefits outweigh the cons. Really am focused on the added energy, clarity, positive mood, and the longer lasting euphoria that continues through the day. Have always had a bit of anxiety and hoping this may be a useful non-drug method to really kick start my morning.

Per my prior post about morning sex, cold plunge will likely take precedence after that, also after I sort through my bit of being in the doghouse per my most recent post in that thread. Fortunately, things have subsided and almost back to good standing (definitely was mostly related to my wife’s concern for her dad which caused a bit of aggression unfortunately I took the brunt of).

Always look for ways to enhance cognitive performance, so this will be one added thing to my toolbox. Any other things do to enhance cognitive performance would be much appreciated too!

For those that regularly do cold plunge, how long and how cold do you usually shoot for? Friends of mine vary from 37-50 degrees for 3-5 min ant a time, typically always first thing in morning. My understanding is to avoid doing it right after a workout as the added inflammation is needed for best recovery (sauna if you have access to one would be beneficial though).

About to buy a cheap digital rubber ducky floating thermometer to be able to quickly check temperature.

Once the water settles around you it doesn’t feel bad until you start moving again. I used to do it a lot for awhile. I don’t remember Temps just filled tub and then filled top full of ice. About 5 mins.

Great way to start which is what I was doing. Now kicking it up a notch. Logistics just the question but think going outside of back door wil be best home for the portable plunge especially from now until spring. 👍. If this works as some people claim may look into the more indoor safe options with an internal cooling unit.
