Powerlifting is a strength sport that consists of three attempts at maximal weight on three lifts: squat, bench press, and deadlift. As in the sport of Olympic weightlifting, it involves lifting weights in three attempts.

That was a copy and paste quote of what powerlifting is see where it says 3 exercises squat, bench press, deadlift. Now if you’re serious in the gym and trying to bulk and put on mass these are the 3 staple exercises you should be doing. Should you be doing them like a powerlifter I say no but still lifting these 3 exercises will put that mass you want on your body of course with the right diet.
So you don’t have to lift a massive amount of weight to get the benefits from the sport of powerlifting. You should be adding there 3 main exercises into your routine though if you want to grow just lift at your pace don’t try to lift like the hulk and eat a proper diet.

I would also add a strict row or barbell row. I prefer strict row or pendlay row. Easier on my lower back and I can move more weight. I build all my mass programs around those 5 excercises.

Nice no doubt

Its a solid simple and proven way to reach most goals with a solid base training program like your 5 goto choices. I like the keep it simple way myself.

I’m 34 going on 35 Oct timeframe and I’ve been doing powerlifting since I was 15.

I’ve always been in love with the movements and what they bring.

The explosiveness you can build from dead-lift and cling and Jerk movements.

I also agree that these movements are needed to add mass, strength and gym confidence.

I will go in any gym knowing that I’m capable of completing an olympic movement due to having good form and experience.
