I really enjoyed the Army and had the opportunity to work with some fantastic units.

That said, having worked around some Marines and been stationed with them waiting to get into Theater, I kinda wish I had gone Dept. of the Navy. A regular rifle battalion of Marines looks like a Ranger unit in fitness and discipline.

Honestly that’s what kept me from the Marines. I was terrified of getting stuck in white on a ship for 9 months. Hospitals are not for me. My bedside manner is apparently “inappropriate “.
 
Marines utilize the Navy folks for medical stuff. We had navy corpsman in the barracks with us. Same cammies…different insignia. They also staffed sick bay/call.

They basically did everything we did.

I guess still the same way…

Those dudes had a lucrative side hustle… after particularly long nights in the ville… they would set us up with iv’s for money.

You could walk through the barracks and see iv bags hanging from the top racks.
