Well boys im in deep shit

Been farming large scale for 24 years and the future was looking very strong then a disease hit one of the bigger farms. Who we grew for did us extremely dirty so much so when word spread the local banks quit loaning money to other farmers that grow for them as well.
Ive seen alot of shit in my day but damn ill just tell you not to brag just for numbers. 5million dollar operation gross 630k per year i have built a 730k house and thats my portion of it.
Now im looking for a new career w no education or resume. And picking out a bankruptcy lawyer. Still got 2 farms operating but they wont pull the debt load at least i dont think they will. If they could i would end up working 7 days a week really really hard till im dead to carry the other non operating farms and land.
This just became official so me and my family are pretty much in shock. Cant eat definitely cant sleep.
All this to say what @John says everyday you got so much to be thankful for you dont even realize most of the time
Ill get over it God’s gonna provide

I don’t know what to say bud. That’s horrible news. Maybe look into turning the land into a solar farm? There are big incentives and government loans for these. There are some companys that just want to lease the land. Not trying to sell “green energy” because it’s useless in my opinion but it could bring in revenue on your non working farm

Nah see when they pulled the contract on the big farm it made it worthlessness instantly. So im trying to pull the whole business and 2 familys off 1 smaller one.
Ill be looking at a bankruptcy for sure

So when one door closes another one opens. Always. Before I went to jail I was working on a ten year contract with a company that does most the underground work in the state for copper. The cable and phone companies got billions from the government to upgrade everything. I was two weeks in and was getting thirstier by the minute. I was seeing 6k a week just during the training phase couldn’t imagine six months down the road when we were full bore. But I was driving three to four hours everyday and I hate driving. The money had me sold but my kids say losing it was a good thing cause I would’ve never stayed sober. Nor seen them hardly. Just working and driving. So I would’ve made half million a year but probably lost everything truly important to me. Now that’s gone and I am back to doing residential again but it’s close to home have a lot more time with the kids not driving but twenty minutes and still have a nice life. The dreams of having whatever I want are gone. But the dream of having everything I need is still here. You will have doors open for you. Just knock!!

True man its better looking back at the whole picture then you can really see the good and bad from the whole picture. I hope i can find something to take from this. Like i say right now its all shock.
Right now i do my little work and lay in bed lol ill shake it off but man damn what a faceplant.
Its a ghost town around here just all of the sudden. Im 37 and had it set up to be retired sitting great at 52… that was 3 weeks ago

Hope you get a good bankruptcy lawyer. Ask him if you can transfer the house in your personal name. Here you can file bankruptcy and keep your home. You may need to go to the town board and see if you can parcel off the a piece of the land the house is on so it’s not part of the farms land. I am no lawyer just thinking out loud.
