Blood Work - Elevated CBC

Recent blood work shows elevated Red Blood Count, Hemoglobin, and Hematocrit. This is on a TRT dosage.

Something to be concerned about or normal when taking exogenous test? Recommendations to bring these levels down?

Yea, i was thinking blood donation would be the common answer after my research. This is on only 100mg Test Cyp every 4 days.

Hey Neuro,

Been on TRT for over two years. Started at 200mg every 6 days, then lowered to 200mg every 7 days, and then over the past 8 months of so, I’ve consistently been on 100mg every 4 days.

I tried pulling my prior bloodwork but I’m having trouble finding any bloods in the system except for my first bloods pre-TRT which are normal besides low T.

Hydration can’t be the problem, I drink over a gallon of water a day. I’ve been consistently doing 20 minute of cardio every day and I do a body building split 4 days on 1 day off. Diet is pretty locked in, and honestly, I feel fantastic.

Dr. didn’t say anything to me about the elevated blood counts, so I initially didn’t even pay attention to it but after some more research, i wanted to look into it.

Hydration might not be the issue but check out some better ways besides just water to hydrate you can actually push out whats needed by the body with to much water. I use mio with electrolytes but anything with electrolytes is going to help alot with hydration

Hey Bigmurph. I was literally thinking about that as I typed my response about hydration. I’ve been known to actually overdrink water, likely flushing my electrolytes. If that’s the case, my electrolytes would not be optimal but would that result in my blood being thick?

I don’t believe so as long as you’re drinking water it would actually thin the blood. I just reccomended the electrolyte boost because it sounded like you drank alot of water.
I did this I tried so hard to stay hydrated between work and everything I’d be done even though I drank a ton of water then someone its horrible that I can’t remember who because it was some of the best advice I ever received. Drink coconut water I was like wtf?? I went and got vita coco which is the best I could find and I never had a problem again with hydration one 32oz container of vita coco and I was great. It is expensive though and im not rich so I use mio because I can control the amount I use and make it last it helps also but vitacoco or coconut water is amazing for hydration.

Your blood is thick bc testosterone stimulates erythropoiesis. It usually takes 3+ liters of IV fluid to see it effect Hemoglobin/ hematocrit and in that case it makes it go down.

NeuroRn - I also read about platelet count, and how it may not be ideal to give blood unless that is elevated. My PLT is in the normal range still.

Thoughts?

Donating blood is great for everything and almost everyone. Theres some parameters at the donation site. Tour blood is thick(ish) its like your heart pumping pudding.
