I mean part of that was safety. But glycogen stores are quite essential to strength. 200 g more of carbs will absolutely make a difference in how strong you are. Have you ever looked at the guys in strongman diets?
One of the wsm’s from maybe 15 years ago or so did a side bar on daily intake. They took one of the top guys (don’t remember) and laid out everything he ate for one day…all on a big table. It was literally a weeks worth of food for me.
Dude the one i seen had several dozen eggs… 3 whole chickens… pounds of beef… loaves of bread… gallons of ice cream… it went on and on. Basically nothing was off limits. Just for one day.

So I’ve been eating like a machine lately. Yesterday for breakfast garlic rice egg and a ton longonisa. Then protein shakes and granola bars and nuts all day. Then dinner salmon and scallops and French fries. Then desert buttered rice with sugar and a piece of Black Forest cake the size of half a loaf of bread. This morning I was two pounds lighter then yesterday. Back down to 234. I know I’m supposed to hop off scale but gotta check I can’t help myself. I hope my metabolism stays like this for the contest. This is just nuts hahahaha. My belly is bloated a little from the carbs. Problem I see possibly coming is stopping eating so much carbs. Going from free feeding to control eating might be a problem. Lol.
In gym now using my new found carb strength jammin to oldies like drift away and spirit in the sky and the supremes. Lean on me is on right now. Shit it sounds good and makes me feel good. I can get use to this.
Back when I was powerlifting I was single and I would go to the grocery store each week and get two buggies of food the cashier got used to seeing me and asked how many kids I had. And that I must be a good dad cause I don’t have a ring and I told her that it was my food for the week and I was by myself. She bout hit the floor. Food to me more specifically the right kinds and amount. If it goes in your mouth write it down I bet most of us by the end of the day would have some type of calorie creep
