Hi all,

I’m sure many of you may have better connections and knowledge as to where to go to find a standard 45lb barbell. I’m not looking for anything fancy and have looked a bit on eBay to see if any used ones in fairly good condition are out there. Looked at amazon too, but not much of a selections. Looking for something in the $175 range but can hold ~700lbs (could go 600 lbs but want to be sure it is a strong bar. If that’s too cheap to get one that will last, let me know. Building up my garage gym and that’s almost the last thing I need. Seems due to covid most have the same idea to make their own gym, but stock for so many things related to fitness are backordered. I have shorter ones but they aren’t vary good for squats/bench/deadlifts. Thanks.

Rogue, REP, EFS, Kabuki, they all sell bars… some more expensive than others, but if you want it to hold 700+ lbs I wouldn’t search for a bargain bar. I would get either an Ohio bar, or Texas Power bar! The cheap ones may say they’ll hold weight, but I have seen cheap commercial gym bars bend with 500 lbs

Exactly what @JB_rD81 said. I’ve got 2 bent cheapos and a Texas power bar that is still going strong after 12 years. I’ve heard the rogue and ohio bars are top notch.

What he said. Pay now for good equipment or buy 3 cheap bars and end up spending more. I’ve snapped bars in gyms before. Not due to mister weights, but just worn out. Always some knockoff bar. I now look at bars to see if they are bent before using them.

Never seen one snap…you ARE “mister weights”

Seriously that sounds majorly dangerous.

Rogue Echo Bar 2.0 is $205 and is supposed to have the same tensile strength as the Ohio bar. You have to sign up for an email and when they are in stock you have a short window to order one.

What about Craigslist I got 60% of my equipment from there used supposedly most of the stuff I bought was older but looked like it had never been used lol
Most people buy workout equipment and never use it lol

I actually have a cheap bar its just a golds bar and works great.
My whole golds setup works great for me I just don’t like my preacher curl on it but the lift for squats and the spotters to catch the bar are great especially since I workout alone 98% of the time.

I have a Kabuki transformer and Duffalo bar I love them both but they are expensive. Recommend used bars as they are usually good and cheap, or spring cleaning when all the rich people throw away old fitness equipment you might get a free bar that is nice.

Was dead lifting. Bar just snapped at the neck where the weights are. Another just bent more. It was like a bad v shape. They were both at military gyms… 😂

It seems like since Covid hit, everyone lost their minds and want $1000 for a 2lb dumbbell. I have not had much luck on Craigslist. I was going to wait until the gyms reopened and the market floods with used gym equipment nobody used.

Yeah I wish it were warmer weather too as garage sales often have NEVER used equipment for dirt cheap also doesn’t help with this pandemic crap. Rogue has always been considered top of line IMO so makes sense to pay an extra hundred here or there than repeating buying knock off bars that don’t last. Will see if Craig’s list has any fairly new bars in a good brand. 👍

If the prices are just a hundred dollars apart then definitely get the better bar but you can get a good bar on Craigslist back in the day maybe one of these new places took over there’s so many now

I see it at work all the time they want the cheap parts I put them on then do it again later with the good ones buy the best one you can afford now and save headache later I just saw the 7” part and thought we were talking about someone’s Bar

Just found a few good Rogue Ohio bars…not the top of the line but definitely better than the ones I was hesitant about on Amazon.
