I have a Marine friend that just moved to Memphis to be with a woman and continue school. We just so happened to meet cuase he chose college in the in the little town I live in so we were both transplants here a become close. He’s now knit sure that school is his right move. Told me He was interested in becoming fire fighter. What he didn’t know is my best friend growing up is one of the guys that recruits for the fire stations in Memphis. Whether he goes that route or not he is getting all the calls this evening to talk to him about the opportunities

Tell him to stay in school. Rolling out of the Corps is an adjustment. But with USMC experience and a degree, I can promise you HRs will be licking their lips. Leadership skills. VET, and a huge government tax break for the company. Especially in the government/defense industry. I had a buddy. Rolled out, got his computer science degree, in 4 years is a GS13. That’s pretty good money. Commercial side. I worked for a engineering firm. Picked me up 38% pay increase and 10k signing bonus. If that’s what interesting to that young Marine. 😉

He’s in year two and really struggling. He had a pretty bad brain injury last year im sure not helping. Got in fight with roommate and cracked his skull open last cinco

It’s a full dedication that’s for sure. Tell him to get a tutor or work in study groups. If brain injury, needs to see a doc. Hopefully he can use campus or VA to have it looked at.

I mean he spent a good amount of time in the icu. I think his main issue is he went into engineering and is not good at math. But then again not everybody is mens to finish college so I’m happy he is looking at alternatives cause he he is really struggling right now and his mental health is not doing the best trying to deal.

CE, EE or ME are some of the toughest programs. I highly recommend a tutor. I was lucky and had a friend who has a masters in mathematics and was able to break it down Barney style for my old brain. Tell him it’s worth it. At 59 I am still sought after for other companies and internal programs. It sucks. You want to quit. But when you finish and have that degree, you are the king of the world. 😁

I get it but I don’t think a tutor is helpful by him at this point ge wasn’t brightest before brain injury. And I think the struggle is just making his depression even worse. Nothing wrong with becoming a fire fighter
