High Altitude Mask for endurance training

N8GainTrain

Gearchurch sponsored athlete
Yesterday and last night was my last day at my home boxing gym. Getting prepared to go out of town for the next 6 weeks of training camp. My trainer and assistant coaches have implemented some more endurance training into my weekly regimen. This is the first time I’ve used a high altitude mask in my training or in preparing for a fight. I think this among some of the other things we’ll be doing to increase my endurance, stamina, and my ability to breathe easier in the later rounds are going to be crucial and essential to me be victorious. I’ll try my best to keep all of you updated on my progress though camp. Thanks to all the UGM members for your support of me as well as the staff and mods.
Also a big thank you to my sponsor @paramexer for making sure all my supplements are in order and helping to make sure I’m at my best and in peak physical condition.

Brother please don’t use that mask to train they are very dangerous and can build up to much oxygen in your blood and cause you to have an aneurism. This happened twice so far that I have heard about and I believe that it has something to do with running gear and wearing the mask.
Please don’t use it.
If you do make sure that you are careful brother make sure that you have no blockages or that you have thick blood make sure to donate blood to thin yourself out.
Im really worried they work great but are so dangerous for people like us who are enhanced.

The high altitude masks do not actually simulate high altitude. What they do is restrict air flow which can result in less air, but oxygen saturation is the same. The masks train the lungs/diaphragm to produce more force on inhalation but you will not see any advantage in adapting to higher elevation using them.

Lots of misinformation about them including the name “high altitude mask”. Nothing about these masks increases the ability to perform at elevations exceeding those you trained at.

These masks are a gimmick. They improve the ability to inhale but do not restrict the oxygen saturation in the atmosphere at the elevation the individual is at. Basically, no additional “altitude adaptation” occurs at all.

Thanks @Bigmurph and @SpencerCortez for the knowledge and information. I’m aware that they don’t simulate high altitude but the way it was explained to me yesterday was to help strengthen my lungs and breathing capabilities. It was there waiting for me when I got to the gym yesterday and they gave me the quick rundown on it prior to my sparring session I used it in my warm up routine. I will however pass this information on to my assistant trainer.

Exactly! For a fighter it is an invaluable training tool. Being able to draw in air while locked up on the ground is essential. Psyched to see them being used appropriately! You are on track to fuck some dude up!!

I’ve used one of these for years now. They can definitely be beneficial for certain types of training but running long distances and high intensity cardio are not one of them. That’s when they can become dangerous. But going a few rounds on the bag, a few rounds rolling or some sprints it’s good to go and is a great tool
