So I went to a home improvement store and I had to pick up a bunch of brick and stone for a feature that the wife wants built. I will definitely be busting my ass this weekend and I will be around just not the normal amount of time.

I did get to see some smokers and honestly I saw a crazy cheap little shitty looking smoker but I might actually get it because it should get the job done for me and is really within budget and I can then spend funds on the other supplies I need to get to start smoking meat.
@Shock6050 @JB_rD81 what do you guys think about the cheaper smokers? Do I really need a crazy expensive feeder and everything or is that stuff just a convenience?

Im going to be building a stone feature so please say prayers lol im not looking forward to doing this project lol

I also have no workout this weekend except cardio it should be a break except for the stone work lol

What’s everyone else doing this weekend

@Bigmurph, no, there’s nothing wrong with some of the cheaper offset stick burners that don’t have all the fancy bells and whistles. You’ve got to pay a little more attention to them, and I would look into a good Bluetooth temp probe that you can keep connected to your phone, but otherwise the smaller char griller offsets, and even the Webber Smokey mountains (the ones that look like R2D2) do just as good… if it’s an offset, pay attention to it while you’re doing the burn off/season, see where any smoke leaks from, then invest in some nice boiler gasket

Have fun this weekend. I just have some landscaping to do. As for the smoker, I have an expensive Traeger it works fine. I’ve also had a $200 charbroil and it worked just as well., just no bells and whistles

I had a cheap one, but ended up having to baby it. Constantly adjusting everything to make sure the temp was in range. I just didn’t have the time to deal. We just got a nice pellet one instead. Wifi, electric. I just let it do it’s thing and I get my meat 😆

Cool I believe that I am going to get this one as like a starter package and once I get the feel for smoking meat I will upgrade to the top one that fits my needs and that I can afford lol ghere so expensive even because you need to buy extra accessories and then meat seasoning and fuel to smoke the meat its definitely not an inexpensive hobby lol im going to love being able to smoke a brisket and more at home.

I saw these there beautiful that’s the type that I will eventually buy but I want to have kinda a starter kit something like fisher price my first smoker lol

Take it easy out there wear sunscreen I believe that the temps are rising and its going to be a warm weekend. 😎

So maybe I shouldn’t even get the cheapo model.

I mean it is an investment I take really good care of the stuff I buy because im crazy cheap lol
So maybe just going for it and getting like Traeger that @Kad1 mentioned.
I saw those and they are amazing maybe I need to stop being cheap and just buy the good one because im not looking forward to having to baby it for sure that would make me not even want to do it so possibly I will go for the top from the beginning.

Thanks for the heads up @Causkatz

Caught this after I saw you mention the Traeger because those were amazing.
The charbroil around 200$ is one I looked at and the one I almost impulsively bought was the same shape as the charbroil but smaller and basically on the ground. I imagine you might have seen this model before im sure that this topic will eventually come up again right before I buy one and im going to post pros and cons on maybe 2-3 models and see which one you guys and gals are already using to smoke meat.

Definitely start small. Smoking is a process and not for everyone. Honestly the amount I use mine, total waste of money

Really that sucks im looking to have it as another way to cook my protein im getting sick of eating slow cooker meat so I need something different.
I was also going to smoke a turkey this year for Thanksgiving.
Now im confused lol I will continue checking them out but im undecided on the starter cheap model or the almost automatic version.
I will figure it out soon enough lol

Sounds like a good but busy weekend @Bigmurph…so here are my plans,
My wife Insisted on having a week late bday party for my kid, on top of going away all last weekend, so I’m helping her till it starts on 1, ends at four, her school friends,AND THEN at 5 is the family part of the party, so looking at a house full a people from 1- till atleast 8, can’t say I’m to pumped up about it,weather is kinda shitty, but hopefully I can go out do some fishing, till my family gets here…No lifting today either, tomorrow yes.
