Moderately lactose intolerant...silent but deadly farts

I think they both suck either way. I’ve done the somewhat extreme cut a few times and always felt exhausted. I’ve also had the opposite with a bulk and absolutely hated to eat another bite because food was making me nauseous.

Trying to see when I do this next run soon, if I can do it fairly even on calories and macros. Meaning, trying to add just a few hundred calories or so to what my maintenance calories normally are, without going crazy.

I believe that a clean bulk would work great with the right compounds. To bulk you need excess but you don’t always need to dirty bulk as I call it eating everything you can possibly put down in 16hrs lol

As long as you get your protein and the carbs needed for energy you will still gain especially with a solid training regimen.

I think k mma y next bulk will be slight in added calories through out not force feed like last one just try and gain muscle and not body fat. Well see how it goes on ment

For sure. I’ll definitely focus on protein and proper carbs. Haven’t done a “real” dirty bulk, but once and I wasn’t happy with how much fat I gained, along with how sluggish I was. Looking to out some solid muscle on, but I’m not talking 20lbs. Weighing in around 210-215 depending on week, so if I can gain a good 15 clean lbs. and maintain lower BF%, I’ll be good. I’m set up with the right compounds, dosing, etc., which you all know from different threads on here and from the advice from y’all. Just waiting to pull the trigger so to speak.

Yeah it’s whey based…may try switching it up, It’s a 10 lb bag, and still have a little under half left, so may just decrease the amount since I like mixing in egg whites to thicken it up.

With raw milk there is enzymes in that help break the lactose down but when you pasteurize it, it kills those enzyme’s. My elders havenever had a lactos problem because they have been drinking raw milk most of their lives

Whey is a milk protein so if you are lactose intolerant you’ll continue to have issues.

Fair life milk is lactose free. Has half the sugar and twice the protein. Taste really good but I’ve been drinking unsweetened almond milk for the last 5 years. Added this during bulking phase for calories. Back to almond milk again😭

Right lactose a sugar is a component of milk, but it depends on the type of whey as to how much is present. In general it is pretty small. However, a better option may be whey isolate which has little to no lactose compared to a whey concentrate (which up to half the carbs come from lactose). Here’s a little info I recently found searching this topic.

“If you are lactose-intolerant and do choose to drink whey protein shakes, use only isolate powder and avoid whey concentrates or powders that are made from a mix of isolate and concentrate. Experiencing reduced digestion as a result of consuming lactose also means you may absorb fewer healthy proteins, vitamins and minerals in whatever you’re eating or drinking, according to exercise physiologist Jim Stoppani. Stoppani also suggests using a lactase enzyme supplement before you drink whey protein, to minimize any negative side effects and increase nutrient absorption.”

Looks like I’m going to drop the milk, switch to isolate, and maybe use some egg whites to thicken it up with water. Still love milk so may suffer through it occasionally. 😎

If I were you I’d just switch to a plant based protein. I can recommend some that taste good. This way you have zero lactose. Remember with isolate it’s a very quickly absorbed protein which makes it really only useful post workout. If you at using it for meal replacement it’s not ideal

I dropped 2-3 whey shakes now that I’m doing 18/6 intermittent fasting and my fart issue is a lot better. I’m thinking whey was a big part of the fart problem.
I never had silent but deadly farts, only thunderous farts that Zeus himself would be proud of.

Yeah I don’t use them too much. Primarily I mix one up 1st thing in the morning when the kids are all running around and don’t have time to cook for myself. I then eat my first real meal a couple hours later. The only other time is if I have limited time and need to hit my typical goal of 300 g of protein. Definitely quality real food > protein powders. 👍

Honestly if you dropped the shakes I don’t think that it would have a major impact on your gains.
I just truly don’t believe that those powders work like everyone really believes and it would save you from having to take down anything that messes up your stomach.
I believe that you can get by without

Well here’s my “protein shake” for this afternoons meal. 😂. Flank steak and rice
