most of the teachers I know already make subsistence level pay,
I’ve never understood it. Our society doesn’t bat an eye when pro athletes get some insane amount of money but teachers (who imo have my most treasured things in life) don’t make nearly enough.

Of course that’s just my opinion.

Full disclosure… we have very good schools around here. Both my daughters, oldest granddaughter and now baby girl will be attending the same schools. Do I agree with everything…NOPE…BUT they have and are getting a great education. Of course I stayed extremely involved in my children’s education as my daughter is with her child. Poor baby girl don’t stand a chance. I’ve morphed into superdad over the years…she’s going to have to bring a doozy to stump this chump.

Blahahaha that’s some very true words right there.

Amen… you want to hose something up beyond repair… get the government involved.

I mean, these debates make it pretty obvious doesn’t it? The Republican Party wants to destroy teacher’s unions without addressing any of the problems that created them in the first place. This is just one of the many signs pointing to the idea that they want to destroy public education – something I am staunchly against. They’ve already been ball tapping schools for years at this point, chipping public education away piece by piece. Now they want to go for the jugular – make public education so bad and so impractical that people are forced into private schools.

When a rich factory owner pays his workers subsistence level wages, that guy is fucking over his entire workforce
I got a very good explanation of this as a young man. My uncle (dead now) was very involved in the uaw in the Detroit metro area. When he retired he was the most senior (years) guy in the whole Ford corp… globally.

I asked him about the workings of the union whys/whats/hows/etc.

At the time 1970’s he told me there were (I don’t recall exactly) so many VPs (a bunch) all drawing giant salaries… the uaw didn’t want the whole pie$$$… just a sliver$.

Out here in the almost sticks there’s not too many private schools. I’m sure Raleigh Durham charlotte has a bunch.

All our schools are funded pretty well. Of course it’s a tourist area so there’s extra taxes on hotel rooms etc to help.

Teachers pay isn’t all that great though imo. The administrators make the big bucks.

Trump was a democrat before running.
Too many people forget this simple little fact… he pulled a Ronald Regan on everyone.

Simple point is, it really doesn’t matter who gets the nomination, our government is like a fucking carney side show and if anyone has seen the movie idiocracy, that’s where American society is headed… no child left behind and participation ribbons turned everyone into panty waist little fucks who want everything for free and throw temper tantrums when they have to do a little hard work to get ahead in life…

All it is is a game of pied piper to lead the masses…

On the school topic I think the main reason they are attacking the teachers unions now is that during covid lockdowns they were pushing school lockdowns. That screenshot is from USA today.

While the union leaders claimed masks and lockdowns and it wasnt safe to be outside they were vacationing in the Caribbean.

Now many people want school choice options. Especially since the pride, blm bullshit being taught in public schools at the moment people dont want to fund them. We have something similar to school choice here. My daughter can go to public school for free. If we send her to private school like we are then we pay a discounted affordable rate. ($140 a month extra) because the private school gets public funding for every student there as well.

Parents need to be in charge of education of their children and it not be political. Biden can fuck off with his “theyre all our children” bullshit they preach.

When i went to school many years ago it was never discussed politics and respect was given to every president regardless of party.

Editing to add this in. The education system in US is doing a horrible job educating the children. Childrens scores constantly rank low.

And a huge dive happened after the forced common core was taught with children ranking even lower in math and sciences.

And before anyone thinks its not politcal take a look at the donations from teachers unions to politicians. They donate millions to democrats.

Wait, what’s wrong with pride at schools? Humanity is a spectrum of sexuality, not a binary. It’s perfectly normal to be attracted to whomever you want. Hence, what’s the issue?

What the fuck did I miss here lol. Fuck trans and fuck them trying to push their fucked up minds on our kids. I said what I said. Who can I piss off today lol. I ran off all
My liberal snowflakes on social media lol.

That’s imo where we’ve gone sideways. The three r’s should come first…reading righting rithmatic. Old time saying.

I believe we’ve put way too much emphasis on other social issues in schools and severely lacking in basic education. There’s whole school systems in this country where teenagers are reading at early grade school levels.

To be really honest. I don’t care what they do in Seattle chicagoland Baltimore philly San Francisco etc etc… those folks vote as they please. I assume they love the high crime and low education… high drug usage. They keep voting that way.

They can castrate kids… handout firearms on the street corner along with fentanyl heroin etc… teach all about anal sex tranny stuff in grade school… it doesn’t effect me one bit. I say have at it.

This is why Im all for school choice. I dont give a damn about the school unions. Education system needs to work for ALL people and concentrate on a solid foundation. The current system is a failure and its controlled by democrats all voting democrat. The unions have so much money they take from teachers to give to democrat politicians. Yet the system is government funded to be neutral. Not biased. The US is an embarrassment now and falling further and further behind so many countries by putting the focus on social issues not education.

The Unions held out not opening schools for bargaining reasons like the mob led unions in chicago and NY used to do. They dont care about educating the children. They care about pushing their beliefs. You dont see that in other countries ahead of us.

I dont think the problem is fixable. Now just let the parents decide where you want to send their children and how they want them taught. You dont need more public schools for overcrowding. You need school choice so those parents who want something better can send their kids. Give grants to new private schools to open if needed out of government control. If the school is doing a bad job, it will fail. As it should.

Now in the internet age educated people are no longer rushing to the US like before lol. The propaganda that US was better is easily proved wrong by internet now. Ive met many more people these past couple years that left the US with their families cause tired of the bs.

I left reagan off my list…

He came from hollyweird so there’s that…

I joined the military when carter was pres and when reagan was elected we all got substantial raises and new equipment. Liked him for that.

He took away many deductions us regular folks used on our tax forms. Boooo

He also overhauled the fed civil servant retirement big time. I can argue this either way. Gutters n strikes.

He did not play around with other countries. He had a good grasp on global bad guys.

Did I agree with everything…NOPE… not a bad president. But he was following carter so the bar was set low.

There is no such thing as “trans issues”. It’s a legitimate medical solution and the best one known to science to address body dysphoria. Unless ofc you think you know better than doctors, mental health professionals and scientists.

This is what happens when schools fail…it’s considered bullying because they’re trying. Just like a chucklehead supervisor at my plant had posted on his office wall “quality is trying your best”. Uhhhh NO! We’re working on dozens of millions dollar equipment and quality is doing it right.

LeBron James isn’t the only one with this problem — @TG mentioned earlier that he’d much rather have voucher programs so he could get credit for his kids to go to other schools. These schools are often charter schools. The thing is, charter schools aren’t doing much better if at all and in some cases, far worse. This is likely because the profit motive precludes educating kids. This introduces the same things conservatives supposedly hate — welfare — corporate welfare in this case. These charter schools often aren’t held to any qualify standard and can do whatever they want with those funds they collect — including all the traditional hallmarks of greedy business like overpaying CEOs, underpaying teachers and coming up with creative ways to enshittify their product for maximum profit. Even worse, these voucher programs actively remove funds from public schools, weakening them even further.

“School choice” is something that already exists of course. You can already take your kid to any private or charter school you want. The phrase is a dog whistle — some people know the agenda to destroy public schools and they’re actively on board with it. People that don’t know the underlying agenda tend to roll with it because they don’t understand (or don’t care about) the full impact that voucher programs inflict on public education.

My position on this is that if you want to take your kid to another school, you shouldn’t be entitled to take money out of a public school and give it to another private institution. That is literally giving away money to rich people. Instead, you should pay for it out of pocket or from a separately funded account specifically for that purpose.

See the problem i see is that youre trying to throw money at funding a failed educational system.

Now from my experience I can say we like our program. And its advanced and low cost to keep it affordable. Parents will talk when they can pull their child at will and place them somewhere else. We all talk about any issues and if they dont fix them we tell the owners we will pull the kids and take them somewhere else. We dont need to address a school board or get approval. Our headmaster will get fired fast if we all start pulling our children.

They all have government standards to meet. But we have choice. We are paying taxes to ensure our kids are educated properly. Not paying taxes into a failing system or a place where they dont care. This is the problem many people have. Theyre paying taxes to send their kids to schools that are biased in politics or failing in academics.

A friend of mine who also has his daughter where mine goes is pulling her to go to a school with better science program. Same amount cost wise.

This model creates a market where the school needs to perform to keep students or they fail. Some people may not be able to afford this it the govt didnt pay the school per child with school choice. It lowers costs dramatically.

Another thing thats more and more popular is cameras in classrooms that parents can access at any time to monitor what the teachers are doing and saying in classrooms. This makes sure the teachers perform their duties correctly.
