You completely left out of your notes the WHY of “failing” schools. And it’s the funding. As we already discussed, schools are not funded equitably already. So what you’re proposing would worsen the problem intentionally. Also, for the record, I don’t think parents should have much of ANY say on what their children are taught. What a lot of people really want to do is schools to indoctrinate their kids for them. That’s why people are so upset about schools having books that include LGBTQ people in their library (and so are banning books in droves) or teaching for example AP Psychology — because guess what — treatments for things like body dysphoria and other mental illness includes the recognition of the need for transitioning in some people. Heaven forbid we teach our kids real science instead of politicized hogwash like creationism.
