Good morning. I’ve recently (couple of weeks) started taking Centrum Silver every morning. I was taking an EmergenC every other day or so… maybe 3-5 a week. I was doing that for decades. I switched to the centrum to see how it worked. I figured a big name brand.

Well it has made me feel terrible. I quit taking them 3 days ago. They made me lethargic and felt bad… I believe @johnjuanb1 used the word toxic. I wasn’t sure what he was referring to until now.

I’m going to switch back to the emergenC.

Has anyone else experienced this?

@TBU @herrubermensch have you guys ever used the silvers?

I have never taken the Centrum Silvers. I usually take One-A-Day gummies for men and eat three in the morning and three at night. Not really sure that they do anything at all for me.

EmergenC I take periodically as well. Excess Vitamin C and I get along very well.

I stopped taking those multivitamins years ago when my parents told me they felt poisoned while taking a grip of vitamins.
You just sparked my interest in emergenC. I’m going to give it a try because I don’t get even close to enough vitamin C in my diet. I had no idea that a banana only has around 9% of the daily allowance of vitamin C. I eat a couple bananas and some frozen strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, and blueberries but I’m still only getting around 25% of the vitamin C I need: I was talking to my dad and he thought I possibly had scurvy back when I was living on whey/oats shakes. I mentioned all the signs of malnutrition I had. I looked up scurvy and started checking the vitamin C content in my diet and I think he was right.
When I was in high school I used to mow Chuck Norris’s lawn. My boss was his client so he talked to Chuck a lot. Chuck told him he took an emergenC packet every day and he hadn’t had a cold in 7 years. I’m going to give it a shot. Thank you for the tip!(that’s what she said) 😀

The only vitamins I take b12, vitamin C and D3. That’s about it. Your body can only take in so much and you piss away the others. I used to take vitamin pack back in the day but they too made me feel shitty. I always gauge my body on what I put in and how I feel. If it feels bad. I stop and jus take the L on what I spent.

Centrum is a crap vitamin. If you are
Going to take a multi , but a quality one. I can recommend if needed

I assumed (mistake) that centrum was one of the “name brand” one.

Based on our diets and what we intake on a daily basis, the mass majority of multi vita mains are useless and garbage. I get taking an extra B12, C, and even D…But we literally eat enough vitamins via food, which includes mass majority of protein shakes we consume everyday.

My 0.2 cents!

One I take …I will say high dosage multivitamin such a these can make you nauseous. Happens to me if I take on an empty stomach.

Irwins naturals as some great multi liquid caps should be able to find multiple places online. I tend to think the oils are more bioavailable then some of those hard multi tablets but that’s just my take.

Sadly as many have noticed, the supplement companies are extremely hit or miss as to what level of quality their raws are that go into products such as even a multi-vitamin. You would think a company as big as Centrum wouldn’t fall in this category but am VERY skeptical with most supplement companies. You definitely have to do some extra work on your end though you likely will never know for sure. I know of a few big companies that dramatically modified and watered down their multivitamins. If allowed @Bigmurph I can mention the brand I currently feel still puts quality first (no links) for the multi- omega 3 supplements I personally take daily. However I’m not taking the omega 3 one right now as I was given a very potent version after my Lasik surgery to take for 2 months. IMO, a multivitamin remains one of the staples I believe in as we rarely will always get all the vitamins/minerals just from your diet, but key is to find a reputable one.

Hopefully @Bigmurph since planning to break into the supplement world can develop one! 😎

No proprietary blends! LOL. That’s the worst trick in the book for supplement companies as they don’t have to disclose how much of each substance is in the blend!
