Unfortunately marijuana is a banned substance by the IOC. There is now rule against being disrespectful. Now you all know a agree with you but rules are rules. She new it was banned and used it. You know, you are 100% right. I did start reading in this thread with a bit of bias. Yeah it’s marijuana, we all know it’s harmless, and the rules might be better off not listing it as a banned substance. But yeah, it is the rules, and she should have known better.

I will question though, is the ban because of performance enhancing reasons, or for code of conduct to avoid intoxicated players? I feel like the context is very important, especially in selecting the test of whether they are detecting for previous use or recent use. Like I feel we can all agree smoking at the workplace is probably not the best idea.

UPDATE ON THIS SITUATION

So the IOC have taken CBD off the list of banned compounds for the Olympics and they are saying because of the situation with Sha’Carri Richardson there likely going to remove marijuana from the banned compound list also this is going to allow athletes to use marijuana for pain and all sorts of other reasons that help our lifestyle.
This makes me really happy but im so angry still that this happened to Sha’Carri Richardson but she is a great person for bringing this issue into the light and having it possibly corrected by the IOC. If it’s not they need to take a look around the world because marijuana is legalized in multiple countries around the world now its time for the IOC to get with the times.
