Shoulder pain, I need your input!

I need to consult the collective brainpower here. My shoulders are screwed up, and i have no idea what the problem is. It is a sharp, icepick like pain at the midline, bottom of both deltoids, especially if i attempt benching with a barbell. This happens a couple reps in, even with 135lbs. Its a deep, bone level pain. I can use dumbells somewhat more comfortably and db shoulder press as heavy as i care to go. Likewise, pushups do not cause this same pain. I have asked a bunch of folks and gotten different guesses. Bursa, bone spurs, tendonitis and the classic go to shoulder malady rotator cuff, even though most who say rtc can’t tell you where a rtc is located lol. Surely someone here has encountered this and has a nice remedy.

First an mri at the doctor to make sure that there’s no soft tissue damage or ligaments and so on, flat bench im guessing is the culprit with a bar use dumbbells like you suggested but because you’re saying it still hurts definitely goto the doctor your injured we just don’t know how bad.

You can also buy a sleeve I looked into them awhile back the bell sleeve I believe im pretty sure Mark bell invented it

I’m not going to guess because it could be anything. If you’ve got some age and been at this awhile could be serious. Hope not.

I’ve got a reserved parking spot in front of our local imaging center. Hahaha

Did it start happening to both side simultaneously all at once or did one side hurt and eventually the other side followed?

Have you checked to see if you have any particular muscle imbalances the way of checking is by doing different segments of push-up variations just to see where your chest is that it’s probably not good now because the pain in your shoulder apply heat apply cold that’s your first and then check out what doctor

Yup you’re definitely right I just hope he finds some kind of solution if he does decide to take that route. Like a rehabilitation with it, it helped me but I also had to rehab my injury while on it and now it’s a lot better. It is definitely not a solution though and for an underlying health problem he needs to see a doctor

A few adjustments can help re align and strengthen your muscles if everything does come ok with the mri so you can start feeling stronger. I went light with the rotator cuffs for months because they were killing me and each month I had less pain and for stronger. Maybe that’s a suggestion but you won’t really know even if you can put weight on it in the first place till you see a doctor

Most times that I have seen its from bad form with flatbench.
This happens to so many including me I will only use dumbbells nowadays on flat bench. I still use a bar only on over head and incline but mostly dumbbells just depends on if im to lazy to change dumbbell plates lol

Also make sure it is not your Biceps Tendons… 99% of “shoulder pain” is typically an inflamed biceps tendon that rolls in and out of the supraglenoid tubercle on the humerus where it’s origin is. I’ve fought this a lot through the years, and oddly enough it was never biceps work that did it… it was always heavy bench, heavy overheads and heavy deadlifts… but like everyone else said, get an MRI and be sure

It’s been this way for going on two years and i just lift around it. Almost all pushup variations do not cause it. Hands together pushups mildly aggravate it. Im 37 btw and have been in physically demanding job, lifted heavy and foolhardy when i was much younger, so it’s not a surprise. I do jujitsu weekly and it doesn’t interfere at all with that. I am stubborn and have found lots of doctors to be pretty meh when it comes to actually investigating anything beyond flipping through the desk reference or they giving a standard, cut and paste type response. But yeah, yall are right, it’s a doctor type problem. I was just hoping someone would read it and say, yeah, i had that same issue! Sincerely, thanks for all the input.

I dread what it will show lol. I will get around to it i suppose, but first i want to find a good doctor. My family practitioner is a good dude, but i need a specialist it seems. For the amount of stuff i’ve survived and healed, im just happy im healthy, can still lift and am mostly functional!

And no deca, though ive been tempted. Progestins just aren’t my jam. Although tren works well, but it absolutely killed my cardio and i sweat like a beast already. It ruined my progestin curiosity.
