Weighing food before or after it’s cooked?

You know I’ve gone back on forth with this. If I’m cooking a stew or a curry I weigh everything before but I know the weight is not the same after cooking. Other than that I weigh after it’s cooked.

Yeah I never really thought about it til today cause I always figured when I cook my chicken in the crockpot I’m really just losing water and maybe some nutrients cause I turn it into pulled chicken

Maybe I’m too ridiculous but I way before and after. So I know for me 5lbs of chicken is good for 8 meals. I weigh out the 5lbs, then reweigh and portion out for 8 individual meals. Same with the rice, but I end up just mixing everything together into a huge mash so I only reweigh once.

Awhhh one of the biggest debates in bodybuilding. I always weigh all cooked food out after it’s cooked. Like fish for example do
You ever notice how much it shrinks after it’s cooked? It’s definitely not the same weight. Oatmeal you want to measure before you cook.

Of course I always say do what works best for you and what is easiest. This is just how I was taught by top industry coaches and pros.

After cooking I measure and weigh out cause you never know how much salt or water they have in chicken or fish and it shrinks down if you weigh it before your weighing water. I have always wondered about the carbs like pasta rice cause it weighs more after. I would suspect from Absorbing water so your not getting same amount of carbs
