I love to talk and learn about training. So what’s your current or preferred training style? How long have you been using it? What is the philosophy or reasoning behind it?
Who was the biggest influence on how you train?

I already talked about it in my introduction but I’ll touch on it again.
I’m lower volume high intensity failure guy.
The biggest influences on my training are Dorian Yates, Dante Trudel, Phil Hernon, and Jordan Peters.
The majority of my training has been either Blood and Guts style or DC.
For a little over a year I’ve been using Jordan Peters Growth Principles E Book.
I recent switched from the 2 way split 3 days a week to the phase 2 PPL.
It’s PP off L off repeat. With 2 rotations for each day.
Every working set to failure and only changing an exercise when I fail to add weight or reps 2 weeks in a row.
 
I followed alexander bromley for awhile his programs. Then matt wenning strength. I really liked his belt squats 5x12 5 ssc eccentric to add quad size, but its hurts bad. Now im making my own workouts as im only wprking out 2 maybe 3 times per week due to univeristy

I used to do ALOT of DC training if I wasn’t getting ready for a meet. Good way to keep strength and still focus on building muscle. However my preferred style of training will always be strength building. I like conjugate, cube, Smolov, and Shieko
 
I did a few different Shieko programs, they were very brutal. At one time eastern block lifters dominated strength sports.
 
I read about the training protocol for one of those countries (don’t remember which one). It was an in-depth article. Those dudes ate…slept and trained. If wasn’t weight training or anything associated with it…they didn’t do it…for years on end.
 
Gotta say my favorite is after a cycle when I go to gym with no set program except what day I’m training what muscles. And just listen to my body and give it a solid workout could be a number of different ways to work back so what feels best for today. When on cycle I like doing giant sets. That hypertrophy and is very set in stone what I am gonna do Giant sets can consist of 4 or five different exercises for one set kinds like super sets but doing 4 or 5 instead of 2. Taking ten seconds rests between each exercise then when done with a set rest two minutes. On the fourth set you should be failing towards the end of two or three of the exercises this way you know your weight being used is sufficient.

Example chest
Flat bench 8-10 rest ten seconds
Incline bench 8-10 rest ten seconds
Dips 8-10 rest ten seconds
Cross overs on peck deck 8-10 rest two minutes then repeat for a total of four sets.

Pretty much defines my workout routine: Muscles to be worked that day are set, but exactly what exercises, in what order, and how many reps and what weight, all of that gets determine at the workout. I’m old. I gotta listen to my body. If I don’t, I know very well what happens.
 
It’s Scott Stevenson’s training. It’s really solid and a good way for older guys to still be able to train damn hard without getting injured.

Not for me brother. Looks solid though.

90 minutes 4 times a week. I lose all interest at about 30 minutes. I’ll struggle to 40 minutes tops. Hahaha 3-4 times at the weight stack for 30-40 minutes is about all i can stand.

For me it’s too much volume also.

I’ve done this shit for so long that now I pretty much put my own sessions together with from influences from Poliquin and Meadows.
My advice with regard to the Eastern European styles is unless you are looking to be a competitive lifter stay away. Everyone I k ow my self included has been injured from those styles. Most of our lifestyles are not conducive to the volume and intensity. Those lifters back in the day were hand picked by the government to compete. Literally taken from the farm for one purpose, WIN! If they didn’t want to compete they were threatened with death. I k ow this for fact because I trained with an old Bulgarian coach and he shared stories.
Bit long winded but my point was find something that is specific to you and your goals. Don’t pick a program Willy nilly because it looks cool or your buddy got really strong
