4 Post to 6 Post Rack Complete!

OPERATION Rack Extension complete! Added another post to turn my power rack into a 6 post as I needed a bit more weight in the back for support/safety and the added storage space is great - it stores my pairs of deep dish 100s and 45s on one side. I then put a vertical barbell holder on the other side to get my trap bar off the floor). Even though the 4 post is a heavy rack on its own, the back off the rack was slightly coming up when doing heavy belt squats, and now I’m more comfortable lifting heavy off the front of the rack if needed (I really do not want to drill and bolt into the garage concrete). Bonus points given this did not take up any additional room as it ends about where the lat pulldown/low row cable attachment already extends out to.

This garage gym stuff is quite the hobby that never ends (and can add up to be costly) but keeps me off the streets LOL. I’m sure there are people (not necessarily on the board that spend the equivalent on alcohol, smokes, gambling, so this is my vice.

Also I now have kind of matched @Poppy with his sweet 6 post EliteFts rack though I’m not really trying to compete 😎

Yes I did. I used gorilla tape as even though each 6x4 ft stall weighs around 90lb a piece, they still move a bit and having a small gap just annoyed me. I ended up taping all seams probably close to a year back and they’ve been holding up well (also makes it easier to clean with either a broom or leaf blower to get the debris and chalk out). I am planning to do a deep clean on the mats soon so may just put a new fresh taping down again once I do that, but they are doing fine as is, I just like things being as clean and organized as possible in my “sanctuary,” so being able clean it all even where it’s been covered by tape would be the route I’d go. It’s pretty cheap to get a big roll or even a bulk order of black gorilla tape on Amazon so likely will just buy a few rolls to have some as backup as needed.

Yeah I know! My wife is a saint as when more than 4 kids needs to go somewhere and I can’t go, she typically handles it (dropping off for pre K and the second oldest to school which is where she teaches too). I can haul a few around in my fairly small 4 door sedan, but recently it’s been just me and the oldest to get him to football or travel baseball practices or games. From now on I’ll be up around 6am as my oldest’s football practices at early in morning before school.

I miss having a 4 door truck, but with these prices it’s not worth it. I think you’d commented and gave me some appropriate shit on my prior truck. It was a Ford F-150 super crew. Worked great for a few years until it became a mechanical nightmare along with costs to keep it on the road. My dad was right… Ford stands for (Fix Or Repair Daily).

I meant 100mph tape. Old military term.

Duct tape emerged from the trenches of World War II to become the all-American tool. It’s called 100-MPH Tape because it was used duirng the Vietnam War to repair helicopter rotor blades and could withstand winds up to 100 miles per hour .

When my mother in law was alive she had a Honda Odyssey mini van. I was always the duty driver for funerals and emergencies…I would shuttle folks around in her mini van. I was surprised at how well that thing drove. I was impressed. She’s dead and wifes worthless brother got the minivan. Id be surprised if it was still running.
