Yeah man this is dumb. I don’t use any of it cause its my land but buddy’s that want to hunt on me can’t. Legally anyways. 🤣 and turkeys are everywhere right now. What all you hunt?

Elk out west ever year-rifle.
Deer - archery
Turkeys when I can- I just walk around with a shotgun and hope I see one. More about hooved hunting

don’t think I’ve ever ate elk. But bet its good. And I got the chance to go out wes to Yellowstone when I was a boy. Loved it beautiful out there. Hope to get a chance to take my family out there when and if this ends

.308 works for me on everything from Deer to Moose.
For moose I used a 180grain Nosler Accubond
Elk I stick with a 165 grain
Deer a little lighter bullet
I love the versatility of .308- 30-06 does the trick also- .300 win is big for deer and it would blow an Antelope up

Teton is incredible also if you are headed that way- I lived and worked in both Parks a few seasons right outta school. Amazing place- fell in love with big mountains and never looked back!!

Interesting, I hear a lot of folks here are not as crazy about the 6.5 creed, for hunting anyways. But yeah 308 is here to stay. Haven’t seen the new sig round yet personally. 300 Norma mag. I believe

We have a local farm just outside of town. They sell it at the Farmer’s Market in the summer. Tastes pretty good, better than that pre-packaged dried-out stuff from the supermarket. I don’t imagine the protein content is any higher or lower than any other Bovine, but it’s very lean (but juicy nonetheless).

Last summer I paid $18 a pound for tenderloins and ribeyes. About the same as good beef.
They claim it’s "organic and grass-fed, " but what does that really mean?

I’ve had elk, it is delicious, however it’s not native to Iowa. I’m limited to what I can shoot within the confines of my own state for now, maybe in a few more years when the middle daughter is done with college and our youngest daughter is in college I can think about doing some big game hunts in other states. I have a brother in law that lives in the twin cities, he goes into northern Minnesota close to the Canadian border to hunt white tails, some day I would love to hunt up there with him!

Elk is delicious, so is moose, it really depends on what the deer eats can affect the taste a lot, bear is good, specially if they’ve gotten hold of berries consistently.
Not a fan of wild turkey, partridge is delicious.

Southern MN/WI deer taste a lot better than what we have up north, more corn fields down south.

If you get into the swampy areas, and are lucky, there some big bucks up here though, and elk are making a comeback.

I have been interested in trying elk ,deer, and moose for awhile I just heard about this beefalo the other day so im interested in that also im so jealous of you guys that have the ability to hunt. I will have to make a vacation out of it in the future. Ive hunted other animals but ive never gotten anything big like an elk or moose.

Agreed- deer in Michigan that eat soy corn and tomato all day are way better than Arizona whitetail eating sage and cactus…

Elk should be repopulated in a handful of states just to promote hunting- game and fish make so much on out of state hunters
