Never heard of him.

The two no crap sites i can confidently send you to is westside and elitefts. There’s a couple more I can’t recall at this moment.

There used to be another site…something like eric maroch…. Monster garage gym.

The guy was spot on.

@Poppy has it right. This is precisely why benching for strength does not always achieve the best bodybuilding result for one’s chest. I have a back that grows like a weed when I concetrate on it. It will overpower almost every other muscle in my other lifts if I focus on growing it, to the point that the rest of me starts to winnow. So you want a higher bench? Pull your shoulders down, retract your scapula, arch your back a bit, brace yourself and push from your lats with a bit of leg. Do ten sets of 3-4 reps with the highest weight possible twice a week (after a warmup set or two). Your bench will increase, BUT you chest might not. In fact, it might revert. Just my experience.

First I’d ask, are you a power lifter or bodybuilder?
I k ow mentally benching heavy weights is great but from an ascetics standpoint it doesn’t really matter.
Second and I admittedly didn’t read all the posts, you need to break down the movement and see where you are failing. Top range, bottom, middle? Work those positions and train out of them. If you are stuck in the bottom so dead stop bench from pins. Middle position, try block training. Too do more lockouts. Over load some negative work also. 100%+ 1 rm with a spotter perform some real slow negatives

Yeah thats close to what everyone is telling me
I train 4 strength on the job
My wrists idk if its a mental game im playin or what its like my wrists want to roll back and its got me gun shy so i move hella slow i dont just unrack and throw it up like i used to
Have you ever had that?

I may have kissed it but do you use wrist straps those could help. Also slow is good i go so slow on my decent that some would call it tempo work maybe 3 seconds. I don’t want pec tear so I control the fuck out that weight and then explode off chest

I just watched this for the 100th time. It’s as good as I remember it.

Dave tate has a unique ability to TEACH. I can tell you how to do it all day long but can’t convey the message like he can.

Watch the whole series then go mess around with it in the gym.

Somewhat on topic, but a little off: How many of you use a suicide grip when benching? For whatever reason, it’s what I grew up doing and have always done. I recognize it’s dangerous, but I really can’t seem to use a regular grip.

I use it on and off. Just depends on how my hands/digits feel for the day.

Disclaimer… I bench in a rack with safety pins set so I don’t kill or maim myself.
