What’s up folks? Been around for a few months posted replies in a few topics but this is my first post. Thought it was about time to post an intro.

I’m 44 yo, 5’11", 244 lbs., and 19% BF down from 27% a few months ago. Coming back from almost a year off. My wife had cancer last year and I ended up canceling gym and focusing all my time on her and the kids.

Been lifting my whole life since i was a teen. I was a high school and college wrestler so had a good foundation (strength and endurance). My HS coach was an olympic alternate and I got a lot of good info from him.

I’m running helios now and will start a cycle once I’m down to about 15% BF. I’ll probably start a log for the helios for those that are interested.

Feel you on getting back in shape. I put on 30 pounds after I broke my ankle in July. Since December I’ve dropped 40. Have no clue my body fat but I’m 3 pounds from goal weight pre cycle. One week to go. 322 to below 280 at 6’2 and I feel like I can get to 265 before the effects of the test start to kick in

I had a knee surgery in 2013 and put on about 40 pounds. It came off fairly quick. As I get older it doesnt come off so quick.

Ah yes, the age creeping up. Kick some ass brother, you’ll be back before you know it.

Welcome! Best of luck man you’ll kill it. Lost an aunt to cancer, it’s frightening and frustrating. Hats off to you for dealing with actual real life problems!

3 years is a long time. I slacked a little when I had my first kid and took about 4 months of in 2013 for a knee surgery and another 4 months or so in 2016 with a bad shoulder. This is the longest I’ve taken off since I was a teen. It is much harder getting back the older I get. Stick with it bro. You’ll get where you wanna be. A couple months and I’ll be happy with where I’m at.

Climbing the mountain the first time was murder but like most things in life they get easier with repetition. I’ve got 2 kids been in the military for 8 years so always active but lifting and fine tuning my body in the gym is something on a different level… I was / am a hard gainer until I figured out the right diet for me. This time is doing great just got to keep working and pushing myself.

Diet is key and a lot of times it’s the reason guys dont gain. I struggled to gain weight when I was younger. I was a wrestler so I dont know if I could have eaten enough to gain with those practices. When I was 17 I moved to a small town in Colorado and there was no wrestling team. I gained 40 solid lbs. in 6 months just eating and lifting. I was probably eating 8000 - 10000 cals/day.
