Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

Thanks bro. This is the first year Im not making a turkey lol. Feels good to relax a little more and will make a sliced turkey sandwich instead lol.

I usually bake one. I know exactly how to make a badass turkey and dont trust anyone else to ruin it lol. Frying would just be too much calories for me. But today Im just using sliced store bought turkey. Its not a holiday over here, just Ive always had a tradition of still buying one and making everything for friends and family here. Ill have a sandwich and later grill salmon.

That’s a rare skill not possessed by many. I prefer a baked turkey. My mother in law (died earlier this year) made the best bird I’ve ever tasted along with a pecan pie.

Luckily my wife is in the kitchen like we’re in the weight room and has taken over the turkey duties. She’s got all her mom’s recipes.

Sorry bro. Hope your wife and family get thru holidays well. Good your wife has those recipes! Those pass downs are always good.

I learned from trial and error one year back home. Instead of getting one really big bird, I bought 5 small birds and cooked them differently. Invited some friends from the gym over to see what people liked. A few weeks later did it again. Got the spices down right and amount of oranges, bacon and butter mixed.

I love cooking and always did this when grilling. Best way to learn is from others reactions. I would purposely make something in the mix that tasted like shit to get honest reactions. If they said everything tastes good Id call them out and tell them to quit lying lol. That’s how I got my avocado burger down pat an using buttered grilled croissants instead of buns.

We’ll post up that recipe brother!! I got a 13 pound turkey I need to make today. I’ve never been good at it. It’s a butterball

What do you got to work with? Bag or no bag? Lemons? Enough bacon and butter?

These photos are from older birds I did one in bag and one just foil. Both will need to be flipped a few times. Different parts of the process.

Maybe easier if I put the photos in order lol.

stick with basics. pepper, garlic very little salt. some thyme and shallots. a lot of natural butter. If you want it sweeter then add in brown sugar and some maple.

get a small amount of butter soft and mix all those together to get a good rub all over it. Easy to do when in the bag . then stick the butter everywere. little small pads all over. First in oven it will cook right side up. You want everything to melt down. add in lemon slices on top and in between body and legs and wings. can throw a stick of butter inside as well.

cover with bacon like in the last pic and one big pad of butter on top. It will go in this way for about 60 mins then you need to pull it out and flip the whole bag over. Most the cooking will be top down so the breasts cook in the juices and dont dry out. after a few hours pull out and check it. the last 45 mins or so will cook right side up again to brown the top like in the second to last photo.
