All of this ☝️☝️☝️
Plus,
  • I can throw on an action movie while I train.
  • I can do giant sets without having to worry about other people on the equipment I want to use.
  • I can fart. 💨
  • I can train in my underwear and barefoot.

I would prefer to train at home. I have bands, dumbbells, adjustable bench, and EZ curl bar with a bunch of plates but I don’t have everything I need. There’s 4 different gyms in the little city I go to. So there’s usually only one or two people there. Most of the time when I go later of an evening there’s no one there. Especially on Fridays and weekends. I pay by the year and it’s $240 for the year or $30 a month.

I have nothing at home, and just not set up to build one right now. But I would much prefer a home gym. On lighter days I might like the gym just for people watching. It’s the only reason I have a membership at PF. So much fun to watch. Generally though, farting at home would be better.

There’s smaller and stinger out there he’ll high school kids are deadlifting more than me. With current vet uo if weights. I can probably fit 765 as max amount currently cuase none of the weights theyhave are made for powerlifting. I’m either going to get a set of 100 pound plates or actualy juat get some

Ditto everything above Including @johnjuanb1 plus

Training has always been my getaway/temple experience. Just me…the weight…and gravity.

Like @Dirtnasty I did have a gym membership when I was single to get me out of the house and it served the purpose BUT the assclowns outweighed the positive social interaction sooooo back to the rage cage after one year.

I’ve had a single training partner on and off over the decades but it’s been just me for over ten years now.

The commute is good,

I can literally do whatever I want

No assclowns

I have mostly top shelf equipment

Everything is set up for me and my needs.

No but calibrated plats are skinnier. Even if they just add regular iron plates I’d be able to probably fit another plate or two

Xfit Class (Public)

No programing = No thinking
Time Efficient
Compete against others

And the biggest one is the Box is the space I go to workout, I don’t live there, I don’t sleep there, eat there, shower there. That space exists for only one purpose and the people who go there go there for only one purpose.

Wife and I would prefer to have a massive setup at home, but we just don’t have the space to procure everything we like to use that are specialty machines etc. We don’t do normal bar squats, deadlifts, etc. and the gym we go to is primarily BB’s and Power Lifters with very minimal assclowns. Of course we pay a bit more than the average gym rat at a big box gym like Anytime or Planet. @PHD knows the gym we use up here in Tampa, so he will vouch for it.

We also have a membership close to our house at a big box (LAFitness), because it’s convenient for weekends, or days we telework from home and don’t want to drive to the other gym.

I would prefer a home gym. Although my gym is alright. People generally suck at my gym. It’s a 24hr one and there is no staff. Just a cleaner who stops by maybe 3 times a week. It’s cheap and it’s 10 minutes from the house so it can be nice when it’s empty.

Down side is… I have a great in ground pool aprox 25 steps outside my shop/gym…that makes it very hard to stay the course when it’s blistering hot outside…

Also… I have been distracted by looking at “things that need to be done” around the house…

I’m just about useless
