In my never ending quest for knowledge I stumbled upon several articles claiming how low doses of “magic mushrooms” are helping people suffering from depression. Before I get flagged or ban, let me clear, I’m not advocating the use of illegal drugs and I understand UGM does not condone the use of drugs here either. I am not suggesting anyone suffering with depression use magic mushrooms. As a member who has family struggling with it, I found this one particular article informative and encouraging. I thought other members may find this interesting as well.

There’s a treatment for the cluster headaches I have using them. Pretty cool, but I’ve never had them

Not sure what it means, but yesterday @TG you had wff by your name today you dont??

I found even doing decent dose like 1.5-2g depending strength would help for like 3 months at a time

Like everything everyone’s biological make up is different. Having done dmt, psilocybin, lsd and Salvia I can say for myself I had no relief in depression symptoms using varying doses in controlled settings with the pure intent on having a spiritual awakening. Marijuana does nothing for my depression, anxiety or pain either and in fact makes me more anxious, depressed and focus on my physical pain more intensely. :man_shrugging:t4: funny being drug and alcohol free besides aas I’m waaaayyyy less depressed, anxious and am more confident. Life’s one kick in the dick after another sprinkled with periods of bliss and serenity. Only end game is death and I don’t say that to be macabre because only in America is the meditation of death looked down upon. There is no destination and everyone’s legacy will die with the universe even the most notoriously known.

This is good point everybody reacts differently. I always hated when activist for legalization would pretend it’s a cure all. Some people actually get worse with anxiety and depression. Some people smoke get active others do become lazy.

This is a great article your discussing a new medication and showing that prohibition is blocking people from receiving this help.

I’ve actually seen this work for someone but it was auwasca im not sure if I spelled that correctly but I thought it was just crazy to believe that it would help someone in deep depression.
They came back a completely different person who was much better than before and I was crazy surprised and I couldn’t believe it

I believe that psilocybin will be made into a medication I also believe that a compound extremely similar to MDMA will be produced and used in medicine soon also for depression and many other alements.

I’ve been dealing with depression for the past 12 years or so, comes and goes. Treatment medication never did much (except make me gain a bunch of weight, which made me more depressed). Biggest help anything ever made was diet and exercise. Made a HUGE difference. I’m all for alternative options but don’t like stuff messing with my mind, even if it’s natural I’m not sure how I feel about it

Yeah, they’ve been hitting this hard the last few years. I really hope it can make it to the fore front of treatment

My big thing is I don’t like how mental health is a guessing game for medication. Let’s try this, nothing, let’s increase it, oops now your experiencing this well let’s add this to combat it. I experience this with one of my kids doctors. But they have you by the balls because of how hard it’s hard to find one taking patients.

I call it medication roulette they just spin the wheel and prescribe a medication then you wait 3 months to either see how bad it messes you up from side effects or it might work but more often you just gain 30lbs and feel like shit.

Went through years of that. Which only led to more self medication. Still had good results with nightly yoke sessions but once I lost job with no drug testing that went out the window and well we’ve seen lost
Of my story I went a bit down a rabbit hole
