We’ve known it drops T. It’s used it the treatment of PCOS in women specifically for this purpose. I would say maybe it’s a factor for the natural folks… but for us? We’re manipulating that number anyway so health benefits of metformin still win.
VO2 max, was addressed by David Sinclair on multiple podcasts. If you have to perform high quality exercise or have high levels of performance output… simply take it after the event. The VO2 max dip has to do with the way it tricks the mitochondria into thinking the cell needs more mitochondria. Which In turn is enormous health benefit. He also goes onto to say, paraphrasing here, unless your competing in the Olympics, or a professional athlete etc…. You probably won’t notice a difference.

For our “Tribe” it does have more benefit especially for those on high caloric diets.

I also concede that 10% test is easy to augment for us.

the VO2 max issue, for me, is still being evaluated and I am leaning towards a negative impact with my style of workouts so far. The question then becomes…is the trade off worth it.

I dont know why time you train, but you could always try taking it after training. That’s what David Sinclair suggested.

Personally, I believe the long term health benefits to be worth it. They keep testing it, it keeps proving to have more and more positive health benefits.

We can circle back in 6 years when the TAME study is released…maybe in the meantime we can get Attia and Sinclair signed up for a charity Metformin boxing match.

I am going to keep it in my stack, but watch my VO2 data closely (I take the extended release version btw) and I will be reading up on the latest papers as they are released.
