So this is pretty cool so far.

Session messenger kinda steals a lot of what other apps claim to want to do but never did. Its a lot like a crypto wallet but over a messenger.

Messages are encrypted. No need for any email or username, phone numbers. When you create an account its a session ID similar to how a Bitcoin wallet ID would look. There’s no way to tell who is talking to who and has the deleted message benefits of an app like wickr. There’s no central server storing data unless using open groups. There’s encrypted closed groups for up to 10 people available.

No meta data sent, 100% open source. No IP addresses logged or sent.

Its currently undergoing a security audit. But expected to be fine based on code out now.

They have their own “onion routing” node systems set up on the network to hide activity.

I won’t be 100% behind it until it passes the security audit but will be using it in meantime anyway.

I use it and love it actually. Ive spoken with several devs there on the team. Theres no way to call but you can send voice files over easily. Honeslty its best cause any time you make a call you are running a complete connection between the two devices thats traceable from the service.

If you have to make a call then go with threema. Their servers are secure and in good privacy based jurisdictions.
