I think when I did this again yesterday I didn’t get quite deep enough as I noticed a bump right away after pulling the pin out. It seemed to go away after I massaged it for awhile in the shower. I was looking at my shoulder today though and I have a somewhat odd looking bruise/mark. The middle part looks like a normal bruise but outside of that the skin is slightly yellowish? Could these be from the oil not getting deep enough?
It could definitely be a bad pin but if it gets bigger than go to walk in and get some meds. You don’t want a bad infection. @NeuroRN actually said put a mark around it and if it gets bigger than its time to get meds also warm and red are bad bruises usually mean that you bleed somewhere beneath your skin. Hopefully just knicked something or just a bad pin
I wasn’t really too worried about it being an infection probably just a bad bruise from trying to hold the needle the right amount in and having shaky hands
Good I would hate to see it be an infection yeah I agree you just bleed a bit under the skin and probably put the oil in the fat layer or between the skin. It should still dissipate keeping it warm has helped for me in the past getting blood flow going
Agreed with @Dirtnasty, if it’s growing, warm to the touch, and red you should be concerned about possible infection.
Not to hijack discussion, but have any of the vets had issues when injecting delts with some of the oil seeping out of the pin spot after injection? I’ve had this happen to me more than a handful of times barely any of it comes out. Looks like a single drop just pushed out. I don’t get this issue when I do ventral glutes.
