I have never felt so welcome to a internet community ever thanks. First question. What kind of diet should I start with. Should I start with some kind of keto or low carb to lose water weight and then transition to a more balanced one or should I start with a balanced one from the go. Now cardio. Should I do hiit or slower 1 pace longer cardio training. Looking for suggestions and already I see my motivation getting boosted from this warm welcome thank you again

Start with just tracking calories, and hitting 1g per lb of body weight in protein. That’s the easiest. If bulking, add 300-500 above maintenance calories. If cutting, subtract 500 from maintenance calories. Those are the best starting points.

There’s some calorie calculators online to help give you a general idea of what your maintenance is. Try that for a bit and adjust as needed, they aren’t perfect.

Use the my fitness pal app to track your food, they even have calorie calculators build in for your goals. That would be the best/easiest place to start.

Good luck!

You can also start with doing something every day. Simple as a brisk 15-20 minute walk.

Do you have access to a gym?

I have a home gym that I oreett much bought on the first quarantine. Have a Treantmill and pretty much everything except a cable machine, and weights up to 80kg max. I also have some trx cables my cousin gave me months ago

What’s your background? Much training in the past? If you’re just starting out i suggest keeping it simple to develop good habits. Not that Keto doesn’t work (it definitely does) but IMO that’s tough to start out with. Track your calories, eat healthy solid foods, workout and train consistently. As you do those things youll learn what’s best for you. Some people operate best on low carbs, I’m not one of those people. But you gotta go through some trial and error. And browse around here there’s a shitload of info and logs you can learn from. Oh and I would eliminate as much sugar and processed foods as you can right away!

I have always been playing sports in my kiddie years football basketball etc. But my diet habits as a kid were terrible so I was always a fatty one. I know basic compound movements. Tbh I haven’t ever tried keto just because the science and the way it works with the ketosis state and such seemed like BS to me. Never tried it tho to see results

Leto diet works as long as you are in deficit why it works well for people protein is more satiating than carbs so you can be in a calories deficit easier.

With an athletic background like that you’ll do fine acheiving your goals brother. Just gotta get the ball rolling day by day until it snowballs and your crushing it! Keto’s not BS it’s just a lot of work if you think you could do it properly and stick to it id say give it a go. friend of mine was always overweight, lifting, training BJJ and Muay Thai, eating right, could never shed weight. Tore an ACL and had 0 excercise, hopped on keto and lost like 15 lbs Vegging out around the house lol.
